Job Summary
The Senior Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing end-to-end payroll operations for Philippines. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing in accordance with Philippine labor laws, tax regulations, and client-specific requirements. The Senior Payroll Manager will lead a team of payroll specialists and coordinate closely with HR, Accounting, Finance and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing (bi-weekly)
- Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, overtime, incentives, allowances, deductions, and statutory contributions.
- Review and validate payroll reports before final approval and release.
- Manage final pay processing, separation pay and back pay computations.
Compliance & Regulatory
- Ensure compliance with Philippine statutory requirements (BIR, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG).
- Oversee timely filing and remittance of taxes and government contributions.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and government reporting requirements.
- Ensure data privacy compliance under the Data Privacy Act.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary point of contact for payroll-related client concerns.
- Conduct payroll review meetings with clients as required.
- Partner with HR, Accounting, Finance, and Operations teams for payroll reconciliation and reporting.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop payroll specialists and analysts.
- Manage team workload distribution and performance.
- Conduct training sessions on payroll systems and compliance updates.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
Reporting & Systems
- Generate payroll reports, reconciliation reports, and analytics for management.
- Ensure payroll system integrity and coordinate with IT for system enhancements.
- Lead payroll audits (internal and external).
- Support payroll system implementation and process transitions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 10 years of payroll experience, with at least 35 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in a BPO or shared services environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine payroll laws, taxation, and statutory requirements.
- Experience handling multi-client or high-volume payroll.
- Proficiency in payroll systems (Sprout , preferred )
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
