Job Description

A senior paralegal role built around real legal craft — not admin support dressed up with a fancy title.

Family law is one of the most demanding practice areas in legal support. The work is emotionally weighted, technically precise, and unforgiving when detail slips. This role is for a paralegal who has already earned their stripes in a litigation environment, knows their way around LEAP without being shown, and can take a BigHand dictation recording and produce a polished legal document without hand-holding.

THE ROLE

Working directly with solicitors and a partner in a busy family law practice, you will carry a meaningful portion of the matter support workload — drafting documents, preparing court briefs, and keeping files in order from opening through to close. This is not a role where you process templates. You will exercise genuine legal judgment in document preparation, manage your own work pipeline with full visibility to supervising solicitors, and handle sensitive client matters with the discretion and professionalism that family law demands.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

▸ Transcribe and action BigHand dictation recordings from solicitors and partners, converting voice notes into accurate, contextually sound letters, documents, and correspondence

▸ Draft legal documents including pleadings, chronologies, family law balance sheets, financial disclosure indexes, and client correspondence to firm standard

▸ Assist solicitors and the partner in preparing matters for court, including compiling and organising briefs for Counsel

▸ Open and close legal files in LEAP, maintaining accurate and current matter records throughout the life of each file

▸ Manage and maintain a personal task tracker that provides real-time visibility to supervising solicitors and the partner on work in progress and completion status

▸ Communicate proactively with the team via Microsoft Teams and email, providing regular progress updates and flagging issues or delays without waiting to be asked

▸ Handle sensitive client information with consistent empathy, discretion, and professionalism, recognising the emotional weight that family law matters carry for clients

WHAT YOU BRING

Demonstrated, hands-on experience using LEAP practice management software — this is non-negotiable; applications without LEAP experience will not be progressed

Minimum five years of paralegal or legal secretary experience in a litigation environment, with a solid working knowledge of legal document drafting, court preparation, and matter management

Advanced English proficiency — written and verbal — with the ability to accurately interpret dictated instructions, including ambiguous or informally phrased recordings

Strong drafting skills with the ability to produce professional legal correspondence and documents to a high standard, independently and without supervision

Proficiency across Microsoft 365, specifically Word, Outlook, and Teams, at an intermediate to advanced level

A reliable home office with a dedicated quiet workspace and a stable high-speed internet connection suitable for video calls, file transfers, and cloud-based software access

WORK ARRANGEMENT

This is a full work-from-home role. You will work from your own home office.
