Senior Overhead Line Engineer

Position Summary:

The Senior Overhead Line Engineer is a pivotal technical role responsible for the end-to end design and delivery of High Voltage (HV) overhead transmission and distribution lines and substation primary structures. Supporting the Discipline Engineers, this professional takes overall design ownership on nominated projects, ensuring all engineering solutions adhere to rigorous technical standards, safety guidelines, and client specifications. The role demands a blend of advanced technical expertise, particularly in the PLS CADD software suite, and strong collaborative skills to oversee project estimating, infrastructure scoping, and technical troubleshooting throughout the construction phase.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People:

• Provides coaching and mentoring as delegated.
• Supervision of Graduate Engineers. Provides input to the performance management of direct reports.
• Manages performance of direct reports.

Process Ownership:

• Adherence to the discipline-specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
• Support the development and delivery of the technical safety standard expectations and technical assurance
• Participate in audits & incident investigations as required.
• Represent Quanta Philippines ROHQ discipline in the contract.
• Actively maintain own competence and continuous development.

Subject Matter Expertise:

• Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
• Provide discipline support to the business.
• Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports.

General:

• Executing assigned personal objectives.
• Interacting with Multi-Discipline Engineering Teams.
• Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports.
• Managing third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery.
• Providing input to CTRs/MDRs.
• Providing sound technical advice and solutions to technical problems within their discipline.
• Assisting in the coordination of activities related to the discipline.
• Providing input to, preparing, and checking deliverables according to the agreed MDR.
• Participating in IDC reviews.
• Reviewing Vendor Documents.
• Preparation of Bulk / Consolidated MTO.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field.
• 5 to 10+ years of experience in transmission line design and delivery, including offshore and onshore projects.
• Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER; experience with SPACE GASS and MathCAD is an advantage.
• Solid knowledge of transmission structures, footings, line hardware arrangements, and insulator selection.
• Understanding of construction methods, WHSE principles, and power system design.
• Experience in tower and pole footing design is preferred.
• Chartered/Professional Engineer and RPEQ certification are highly desirable.
