Job Description
Senior .NET Developer
Work Setup: Remote
Shift: Night Shift
1. About the Role
We are seeking a Senior .NET Developer to support a large hedge fund in migrating from the commercial tick database OneTick to a new architecture using kdb+ for real-time market data and Apache Iceberg for end-of-day historical data.
A Python service layer, exposed through gRPC and Arrow Flight, will connect the new data stores. The existing .NET wrapper will remain the client-facing interface but will be re-backed by the new services.
The migration will run alongside the existing system, allowing the team to build the new stack, reconcile results against OneTick, and gradually transition consumers to the new architecture.
The developer will own the .NET side of the migration, collaborating closely with the architect and the client's engineering team.
2. Key Responsibilities and Technical Requirements
Must-Have Requirements
- C# and .NET: 6+ years of professional experience using C# and modern .NET (.NET 6 or later).
- gRPC: Production experience with gRPC in .NET, including Grpc.Net.Client, Protocol Buffers (protobuf) code generation, and streaming calls.
- Apache Arrow / Columnar Data: Hands-on experience using Apache Arrow in .NET (Apache.Arrow package) or another columnar data format.
- High-Volume Data Processing: Strong understanding of memory allocation, Span, Memory, streaming, and asynchronous programming.
- Data Precision: Careful handling of timestamp precision, time zones, and numeric data types.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Arrow Flight in any programming language.
- kdb+ C# client experience, such as csharpkdb or qSharp, or basic knowledge of q.
- Experience integrating or wrapping market data or tick database APIs, such as OneTick, kdb+, Bloomberg, or Refinitiv.
3. Work Experience and Domain Qualifications
Candidates should ideally have experience in financial services or trading technology, including:
- Market data experience at a hedge fund, bank, brokerage, or trading technology vendor.
- Familiarity with trades, quotes, order books, symbology, corporate actions, and exchange calendars.
- Understanding of the differences between exchange, vendor, and capture timestamps, and why these distinctions matter.
- Experience working with at least one of the following asset classes:
- Equities
- Options
- Futures
- Foreign exchange (FX)
- Fixed income
