About The Job Senior Naval Architect
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Naval Architect is responsible for delivering naval architecture design while primarily focusing on developing and strengthening the capability of the junior naval architecture team.
This role will work closely under the Structural Coordinator to ensure strong integration between naval architecture and structural design, while embedding best practices, improving design quality, and building a more independent and technically competent team.
The position requires a hands-on leader and mentor who can guide junior engineers from supported contributors into confident professionals capable of owning design deliverables and making sound engineering decisions.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering.
- 10+ years of ship design experience.
- Strong competency in stability, weight control, trim, performance analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Solid working knowledge of Class Rules, IMO regulations, and Flag requirements
- Experience mentoring and developing junior naval architect
- Comfortable leading multi-discipline teams in multicultural environments
- Excellent communication, leadership and coaching skills
Desirable
- Experience with green energy vessels and alternative fuel systems (LNG, biofuels, hydrogen, hybrid propulsion).
- Experience in aluminium vessel design
- Direct involvement in construction support, commissioning, and sea trials of high-speed vessels.
- Experience engaging directly with Class societies and Flag administrations.
- Familiarity with leading naval architecture software tools e.g. Maxsurf, Rhino etc.
