We are partnering with an established marine solutions provider to appoint a SeniorTechnical Marine Engineering Manager to lead the technical function within its marine engine spares business.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving technical excellence, strengthening relationships with principals and customers, and supporting the continued growth of the engine spares division. The successful candidate will be recognized as the division's technical authority, possessing a deep understanding of marine engine components, their applications, interchangeability, and lifecycle management across a wide range of vessel types and OEM platforms.
Technical Leadership & Business Support
- Lead and oversee all technical activities relating to marine engine spare parts, after-sales support, and technical advisory services.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on marine engine spare parts, providing in-depth technical guidance on component selection, identification, compatibility, troubleshooting, and replacement strategies.
- Review technical specifications, drawings, parts catalogues, manuals, and customer requirements to ensure accurate recommendations and quotations.
- Advise customers and internal stakeholders on maintenance philosophies, spare parts planning, obsolescence management, and critical stock requirements.
- Support the commercial team in evaluating enquiries, preparing technical proposals, and developing practical, value-driven solutions for customers.
- Resolve complex technical enquiries and operational challenges by leveraging strong product knowledge and hands-on marine engineering experience.
Customer & Principal Management
- Act as the key technical interface between customers, principals, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop strong relationships with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, technical superintendents, and purchasing teams.
- Conduct technical presentations, product briefings, and customer visits to strengthen business partnerships and reinforce the company's technical credibility.
- Coordinate closely with overseas principals and OEMs on technical clarifications, warranty matters, product updates, and engineering support.
- Support vessel inspections and discussions with customers to identify opportunities for spare parts optimisation and lifecycle cost savings.
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with technical, procurement, and operations teams to deliver seamless customer support.
- Collaborate with overseas principals and suppliers to align commercial objectives and market strategies.
- Support and mentor members of the commercial team to foster a high-performance culture.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is a must.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in marine engines, engine spare parts, technical support, after-sales service, or marine equipment distribution.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of marine engine spare parts is essential, including the ability to identify, specify, and advise on critical components across two-stroke and/or four-stroke marine engines.
- Familiarity with OEM parts catalogues, technical manuals, engineering drawings, and spare parts procurement processes.
- Experience working with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, marine OEMs, or authorised engine agents.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical complexity into practical solutions for customers.
- Prior leadership or team management experience will be advantageous
