Help Own Software Quality Alongside an Engineering Team
We're partnering with a growing U.S.-based technology company looking for a Manual QA Engineer to join its engineering team. This role will work closely with developers and the SDET to help ensure product quality through thoughtful manual testing, structured bug investigation, and effective collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle.
While this is primarily a manual testing role, we're looking for someone with a technical mindset - someone who is comfortable using Git, understands modern software development workflows, and ideally has some exposure to test automation. Success in this role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to think beyond simply executing test cases.
What You'll Do
- Execute manual testing for new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and production releases.
- Develop and maintain detailed test cases, test plans, and regression test suites.
- Identify, reproduce, document, and verify software defects with clear and actionable bug reports.
- Participate in bug triage discussions and work closely with developers to investigate and validate reported issues.
- Perform functional, regression, exploratory, and release testing to improve software quality and release confidence.
- Use Git as part of the team's development workflow when reviewing or validating changes.
- Collaborate closely with the SDET to identify opportunities for improving test coverage and QA processes.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and release readiness to the engineering team.
- Help maintain organized QA documentation and testing processes.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience in Manual Software QA.
- Some testing automation exposure would be preferable.
- Experience testing modern web applications.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and QA best practices.
- Experience writing comprehensive test cases and detailed bug reports.
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience using bug tracking tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, GitHub Issues, or similar.
- Exposure to browser developer tools for debugging and validation.
- Some exposure to automated testing or automation frameworks is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with developers and working during overlapping U.S. Eastern Time hours.
Nice to Have
- Experience with API testing using Postman or similar tools.
- Basic SQL knowledge.
- Exposure to Laravel or PHP applications.
- Experience working alongside SDETs or Automation QA Engineers.
- Previous experience supporting SaaS products.
What Success Looks Like
- Thorough manual testing that helps improve overall release quality.
- Well-written, reproducible bug reports that accelerate issue resolution.
- Strong collaboration with developers and the SDET throughout the development lifecycle.
- Organized testing documentation and regression coverage.
- Clear communication and ownership throughout the QA process.
