Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager - Procurement

Location - Yeshwanthpura

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager – Procurement to lead sourcing and procurement activities for Paper, Printing, Plastic, Bags, and Packaging categories. The incumbent will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract negotiations, cost optimization, quality assurance, risk mitigation, and ensuring uninterrupted supply of materials to support business operations. The role requires deep market knowledge, strong negotiation capabilities, and expertise in packaging materials procurement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Develop and implement category sourcing strategies for paper, printing materials, plastics, bags, flexible packaging, rigid packaging, labels, cartons, corrugated boxes, and allied materials.
  • Identify and evaluate new suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, innovation, and supply continuity.
  • Lead RFQs, RFPs, tenders, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization.
  • Establish long-term procurement plans aligned with business objectives and growth requirements.

Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews based on quality, delivery, cost, service, and sustainability parameters.
  • Develop alternate supplier networks to minimize supply risks and dependency.
  • Drive supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

  • Achieve annual cost-saving targets through strategic negotiations, vendor consolidation, and sourcing optimization.
  • Monitor commodity trends and raw material indices impacting paper, polymer, resin, packaging, and printing costs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on value engineering and packaging optimization projects.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and procurement efficiencies.

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, contracts, rebates, and service agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal requirements, and company standards.
  • Manage contract lifecycle and ensure adherence to negotiated terms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, Marketing, Packaging Development, and Finance teams.
  • Support new product development initiatives by sourcing innovative packaging solutions.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials to meet production and business requirements.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure procured materials meet quality specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams to address supplier quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote sustainable procurement practices and environmentally responsible sourcing.

Market Intelligence & Risk Management

  • Track industry trends, commodity pricing, technological developments, and supplier market dynamics.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies for supply disruptions, price volatility, and geopolitical impacts.
  • Maintain business continuity plans for critical material categories.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement professionals.
  • Establish performance metrics and drive a high-performance procurement culture.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Annual procurement savings and cost reduction achievements.
  • Supplier performance and service levels.
  • On-time material availability and inventory optimization.
  • Contract compliance and procurement cycle efficiency.
  • Supplier diversification and risk mitigation effectiveness.
  • Quality and sustainability targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Packaging Technology, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Procurement preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, CPM, or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

  • 10-15+ years of procurement experience, with significant expertise in Paper, Printing, Plastic, Bags, Flexible Packaging, Rigid Packaging, Corrugated Packaging, and Packaging Materials.
  • Proven experience in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier development, and cost management.
  • Experience working with FMCG, Retail, Packaging, Manufacturing, Consumer Products, E-commerce, or related industries preferred.
