Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Manager – OPEX to take full charge of our operating expenses. Your main job will be to plan and allocate budgets, keep spending under control, and work closely with vendors to get the best value for every rupee we spend. If you are good with numbers, strong in negotiation and enjoy keeping things in order, we would love to talk to you.
Responsibilities
What you will mainly focus on
- Budget allocation: Prepare the yearly OPEX budget and allocate it across departments, branches and cost centres.
- Budget control: Track actual spending against budget every month, flag overspends early, and make sure we stay within limits.
- Prepaid expenses: Manage all prepaid expenses such as insurance, rent, AMCs, licences and subscriptions, keep proper prepaid schedules, and book monthly amortisation correctly.
- Vendor coordination: Work with vendors on contracts, renewals, service levels and payments, and make sure services are delivered as agreed.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with vendors to get better rates, payment terms and contract conditions, and bring down costs wherever possible.
Budgeting and cost control
- Prepare monthly budget vs actual reports and explain the variances clearly to management.
- Find areas where we are overspending and suggest practical ways to save.
- Set up and follow approval limits so no expense goes beyond budget without the right sign-off.
- Support yearly budget planning and mid-year reviews with the finance team.
Finance control
- Make sure all operating expenses are booked correctly to the right cost centre and GL.
- Handle monthly accruals, provisions and prepaid entries for month-end closing.
- Make sure all expenses follow company policies, GST and TDS rules.
- Support internal and statutory audits with proper documents and reconciliations.
Vendor management
- Be the main point of contact for OPEX vendors such as facilities, utilities, IT, housekeeping and security.
- Keep track of contract renewal dates, so nothing expires without review.
- Compare quotes, check vendor performance, and recommend changes when needed.
Reports and process improvement
- Share monthly OPEX dashboards and cost-saving updates with management.
- Improve expense tracking and approval processes, and automate wherever possible.
Qualifications
- CA (Inter), CMA, MBA (Finance) or M.Com.
- 8–10 years of experience in finance, with strong exposure to OPEX budgeting, cost control and vendor management.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in budget preparation, allocation and budget vs actual tracking.
- Good knowledge of prepaid expenses, amortisation, accruals and month-end closing.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience dealing with vendors directly.
- Working knowledge of GST, TDS and finance controls.
- Comfortable with ERP systems like Zoho, and strong in Excel.
- Clear communication and the ability to work with different teams.
- Detail-oriented, honest and disciplined with numbers.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in interior design, construction, real estate, facilities or any project-based industry.
- Experience handling OPEX for multiple branches or locations.
What We Offer
- Good salary, as per industry standards.
- A key role with full ownership of company operating expenses.
- Medical insurance for you and your family.
- Paid leave, sick leave and holidays as per company policy.
- Chances to learn and grow with a growing company.
- A friendly, supportive and design-led work culture.
