Job Description
The Senior Manager, Smart Manufacturing will lead the development, deployment, and scaling of digital, automation, AI/ML, and smart factory capabilities across backend manufacturing operations. This role serves as the bridge between factory operations & engineering, data science, manufacturing IT, and business stakeholders to accelerate operational excellence and digital transformation. Success in this role will be measured not by technology deployment alone, but by sustained business outcomes including improvements in productivity, OEE, yield, quality, delivery performance, cycle time, and cost competitiveness. The leader will establish a scalable operating model that enables innovation, drives adoption, and converts digital solutions into standard manufacturing practices. This responsibility aligns with BMEX's emphasis on operationalizing AI, accelerating decision making, and scaling manufacturing excellence through digital capabilities.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities Digital Transformation Leadership Define and execute the Smart Manufacturing strategy aligned with business and factory objectives. Establish and prioritize a portfolio of digital transformation initiatives across operations, engineering, quality, and manufacturing systems. Drive the transition of successful pilots into sustainable enterprise-scale solutions.
Responsibilities
- AI, Advanced Analytics & Data Strategy Lead deployment of AI/ML solutions to improve yield, quality, cycle time, delivery predictability, and equipment effectiveness. Develop scalable frameworks for predictive, prescriptive, and autonomous manufacturing capabilities. Champion data-driven decision making through advanced analytics and visualization platforms.
- Smart Factory & Automation Identify opportunities to leverage automation, intelligent edge devices, computer vision, robotics, and digital twins. Drive smart factory initiatives that improve operational efficiency, labor productivity, and manufacturing flexibility. Partner with factory teams to integrate automation into standard operating practices.
- Cross-Functional Leadership Collaborate with Product Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing IT, and Digital teams. Serve as the primary technical and business leader for Smart Manufacturing programs. Influence organizational alignment and stakeholder engagement across multiple factories and regions.
- Program & Portfolio Management Build roadmaps, business cases, and deployment plans for strategic initiatives. Establish governance, project prioritization, and value realization frameworks. Monitor progress through defined operational and financial KPIs.
- Capability Building Develop Smart Manufacturing talent and technical capability within the organization. Promote a culture of innovation, experimentation, continuous improvement, and learning. Mentor engineers and future digital leaders.
- Business Impact Ownership Deliver improvements in: Yield performance OEE and productivity Cycle time reduction Quality and escape prevention Cost optimization Automation effectiveness Customer delivery performance.
Qualifications
- Education Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience 10+ years of manufacturing, engineering, automation, or digital transformation experience. 5+ years of people leadership experience. Proven track record delivering large-scale digital improvement initiatives. Experience leading cross-functional teams in a semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environment.
