What you'll be doing
As a Senior Manager, you will be primarily responsible for finance controllership, you will own the integrity of our books end to end. You will keep accounts accurate and audit-ready, run statutory and internal audits, manage taxation and compliance, and turn our numbers into clear MIS that leadership relies on to make decisions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys both getting into the ledger and partnering with business teams.
Key responsibilities
Books of accounts and financial control
- Own the books of accounts end to end: day-to-day accounting, journal entries, reconciliations and ledger scrutiny
- Drive monthly, quarterly and annual closing within defined timelines
- Prepare financial statements in line with Ind AS / applicable accounting standards
- Design and strengthen internal financial controls (IFC) and accounting policies
- Oversee bank, payment gateway, partner and nodal account reconciliations typical of a fintech
Statutory and internal audits
- Coordinate statutory audits end to end, from audit planning and schedules to closing queries and sign-off
- Work with internal auditors on audit scope, process walkthroughs and timely closure of observations
- Track and implement audit recommendations to strengthen processes and controls
Taxation and compliance
Manage direct and indirect tax compliance: GST, TDS, advance tax and income tax filings
- Support tax assessments, notices and coordination with tax consultants
- Ensure compliance under the Companies Act, ROC filings and other applicable regulations
- Support regulatory and reporting requirements relevant to fintech and partner institutions
MIS and reporting
- Review and present monthly MIS, including P&L, cash flow, unit economics and variance analysis
- Support budgeting, forecasting and cost control initiatives
- Provide timely, accurate financial insights to leadership and business teams
- Stakeholder management
- Act as the key point of contact for auditors, tax consultants, banks and partners
- Collaborate with product, operations and business teams on finance-related processes
Professional Skills
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- 5 – 7 years of experience in accounting, financial control and audits, preferably in the fintech industry; candidates from payments companies (payment gateways, payment aggregators, UPI, cards) will be strongly preferred
- Hands-on experience owning books of accounts and month-end closing
- Proven experience coordinating with statutory and internal auditors through to audit closure
- Strong working knowledge of GST, TDS, income tax and Companies Act compliance
- Experience preparing and reviewing MIS and financial reports for leadership
- Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, Zoho Books, NetSuite or similar) and advanced Excel
- Exposure to payments-specific accounting such as settlements, escrow/nodal accounts, merchant payouts and chargebacks, and to RBI requirements for payment aggregators, NBFCs or lending partnerships is good to have
- Experience with Ind AS and fundraising or investor reporting
