The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company's only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Legal Counsel (Makati) who will be responsible in ensuring that OceanaGold complies with Philippine laws, and with internal policies and standards on good governance, ethics, and internal controls. This job includes legal and litigation management, government relations/stakeholders management, corporate housekeeping, and other related legal works. The role will be reporting to the Manager-Legal, and Company Secretary.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Qualifications Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
Graduate of Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor;
Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing;
Minimum of 5 years in the practice of law with excellent knowledge and understanding of legal framework and litigation;
At least 3 years of experience or exposure in government relations, legal management, and compliance and permitting, in the mining or related industry;
General knowledge on civil, criminal, and other laws;
Satisfactory knowledge on corporate and tax laws;
Excellent knowledge on mining-related laws such as the Mining Act, FTAAs, different Department Orders related to Health, Safety, Environment, Social Performance, and Mining Operations.
Broad knowledge on mining permitting and compliances;
Good decision-making skills;
With excellent skills in writing and oral communication, negotiation, being resilient, strong people skills, and team player; and
Drives for continuous improvement and innovation.
