What we need:
Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will lead customer and commercial contracting for our hyperscale and major enterprise customers across Asia Pacific. You will draft and negotiate high-value customer agreements, advise the business on related regulatory matters, and build the templates and processes that keep our contracting fast and consistent. This role will be based in Singapore.
Key responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, focusing on customer contracts and service level agreements with hyperscale and other major customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, finance, and technical teams, to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks in commercial transactions.
- Provide legal opinions and advice on regulatory compliance matters in connection with responsibility areas, including data privacy, cybersecurity, and environmental regulations.
- Monitor legal developments in the industry and provide updates and guidance to the organization on relevant legal issues and best practices.
- Manage outside counsel and legal service providers as needed to support the company's legal needs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and templates to streamline the contracting process and ensure consistency across the organization.
- Actively champion and implement the organization's policies on health & safety, environment, energy, quality, information security, and business continuity, ensuring adherence to incident reporting, legal, and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate:
- Qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
- 8 to 12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in commercial contracting.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and contract management skills, with a proven ability to handle complex commercial transactions.
- Prior in-house commercial contracting experience with a major hyperscaler is highly advantageous. Experience with data center contracts will be highly valued.
- Familiarity with industry-standard contracts and best practices in the data center and technology sectors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially oriented legal solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to professional ethics and integrity.
- Proficiency in English is required. Fluency in Mandarin or other Asian languages is an advantage.
