Position: Senior Kotlin Backend Engineer
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (primarily work from home)
Location: Makati City
Schedule: Shifting schedule (mostly night shift)
Salary: Up to PHP 100,000
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant Kotlin services supporting clearing, settlement, and account infrastructure
- Architect API-driven systems that meet high standards for availability, performance, and security
- Collaborate with product, frontend, QA, and DevOps teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into reliable technical solutions
- Identify and resolve production performance bottlenecks, scaling limitations, and security issues
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while conducting thorough code reviews
- Contribute to deployment, observability, and infrastructure decisions alongside DevOps teams
- Mentor engineers and help foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of professional backend engineering experience, preferably within fintech, payments, or financial services
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and related frameworks such as Spring Boot or Ktor
- Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) effectively within production environments
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
- Strong SQL database expertise, including schema design and query optimization
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and observability practices
- Strong understanding of security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection in fintech environments
- Experience with financial systems, payment processing, or banking technology is highly preferred
