Role Description The Senior Java Software Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Taguig, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications that support Metrobank's banking operations and digital services. This role involves building and enhancing microservices and enterprise solutions using the Spring Framework, ensuring code quality, performance, security, and scalability. The engineer collaborates closely with product owners, business analysts, and other engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions and to resolve production issues. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, testable code, performing code reviews, optimizing existing systems, and contributing to architectural decisions and best practices. The role also requires mentoring less experienced engineers and staying current with industry trends and technologies relevant to banking and financial services.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java and general Programming skills, with experience in object-oriented design and coding best practices.
• Hands-on experience in Software Development for enterprise or financial applications, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
• Practical knowledge of Microservices architecture, including RESTful APIs, service integration, and scalability considerations.
• Experience with Spring Framework (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Security) for building robust backend services.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL; experience with ORM tools and database performance tuning is an advantage.
• Understanding of secure coding practices, application security, and reliability standards, ideally in a regulated industry.
• Experience with version control (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and modern development tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
• Background in banking, fintech, or other financial services environments is a plus.
