About the Role
The Senior Accountant is a hands-on internal accounting role responsible for supporting Aline Accounting Partners own accounting and finance operations across multiple entities. This is not a client-facing accounting position.
You'll work in a high-volume transaction environment, supporting the accurate and timely recording of financial activity across the organization. The role requires strong accounting fundamentals and someone who can not only process transactions but also understand and explain the accounting behind their work.
You'll have significant involvement in accruals, journal entries, supporting schedules, amortization, account reconciliations, and month-end close, while also supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Working closely with the internal finance team, you'll help maintain accurate financial records, ensure balance sheet accounts are properly supported, and contribute to scalable accounting processes as the organization continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process a high volume of accounting transactions across multiple entities.
- Process accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, cash application, and related reconciliations.
- Support accounts payable by coding invoices, routing approvals, preparing payment runs, and ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including recurring and month-end entries.
- Prepare and maintain accruals, amortization schedules, and other supporting schedules.
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Support the month-end close process and ensure accounts are complete, accurate, and properly supported.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records across multiple entities.
- Review accounting activity and demonstrate an understanding of the underlying accounting treatment, rather than solely processing transactions.
- Organize and maintain financial documentation to support audits and compliance requirements.
- Assist with internal financial reporting and special projects as the finance function continues to grow.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies, particularly in a high-volume environment.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with accrual accounting, journal entries, supporting schedules, amortization, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, with the ability to explain the reasoning and accounting treatment behind transactions and journal entries.
- Experience working in a high-volume transactional accounting environment.
- Experience supporting multiple entities or locations is strongly preferred.
- Experience with NetSuite or Sage Intacct is a strong plus; experience with similar ERP/accounting systems will also be considered.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with an internal finance team.
