The Senior IP Specialist will lead T.I.P.s intellectual property protection, portfolio management, patent drafting, technology assessment, and technology transfer initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in patents, IP strategy, technology transfer, innovation management, and research commercialization.
What You'll Do
Intellectual Property Protection & Portfolio Management
- Manage and maintain T.I.P.s IP portfolio, including patents, utility models, trademarks, copyrights, and other IP assets
- Monitor filing deadlines, renewals, maintenance fees, and prosecution activities
- Prepare portfolio reports and institutional IP documentation
- Coordinate with inventors, researchers, legal counsel, and external stakeholders
Patent Drafting & IP Filing
- Evaluate invention disclosures and assess patentability
- Conduct prior art searches and patent landscape analyses
- Draft and review patent applications, claims, specifications, and related IP documents
- Oversee filing and prosecution activities with IPOPHL and other relevant jurisdictions
IP Research & Technology Assessment
- Conduct freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses and competitor IP assessments
- Identify potential IP risks, conflicts, and infringement issues
- Perform technology assessments and support IP strategy development
- Generate intelligence to guide commercialization and licensing decisions
Technology Transfer & Commercialization Support
- Support licensing, valuation, due diligence, and commercialization activities
- Work closely with researchers and business development teams to prepare technologies for market adoption
- Participate in industry engagement, scoping meetings, and technology transfer initiatives
Capacity Building & IP Education
- Facilitate IP awareness programs, workshops, and training sessions
- Mentor junior IP personnel and researchers on best practices in IP protection
- Contribute to institutional IP policies, resources, and innovation programs
Qualifications
Education
- Graduate degree preferred (Master's or PhD in Science, Engineering, Business, Intellectual Property Law, or related fields)
- Professional training or certifications in Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, Innovation Management, or related fields (e.g., IPOPHL, WIPO, AUTM)
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in patent protection, patent drafting, IP analysis, technology transfer, or innovation management
- Experience managing IP portfolios and coordinating patent filings
- Strong background in research, innovation, academic, government, or technology-based environment
