Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer — Ground Improvement (Remote, US Firm)

Rauch & Associates is recruiting on behalf of a specialist US geotechnical engineering firm whose entire practice is ground improvement design: stone columns, rigid inclusions, aggregate piers, and helical piles. This search is for a single senior design engineer to work directly with the firm's principal engineer and to help lead and guide junior civil engineers

You will spend your day producing calculations, models, and submittals, but experience on actual construction sites is a major plus.

What you will do

• Produce settlement, bearing, and stability calculations for ground improvement systems
• Build and run numerical models (PLAXIS or equivalent) for design and verification
• Prepare preliminary and bid-stage designs and engineering submittals
• Work directly with a US-licensed principal engineer who holds design authority and all sealing responsibility

What you must bring

• A civil engineering degree with a geotechnical specialization; a master's in geotechnical engineering is strongly preferred
• Demonstrable, recent, hands-on experience personally producing geotechnical design calculations.
• Direct ground improvement design experience (stone columns, aggregate piers, rigid inclusions, vibro systems, or helical piles). Adjacent geotechnical design backgrounds will be considered where the calculation depth is real.
• Working proficiency in MathCAD and/or PLAXIS and settlement/stability analysis tools
• Fully professional written and spoken English. You will be corresponding and meeting with a US team daily, and clear technical communication is part of the job

The one hard constraint

This role runs a fixed shift aligned to US Eastern business hours, 10:00am to 6:00pm ET. Depending on your location that is a late-evening to overnight schedule. Please apply only if you are prepared to hold this schedule.
