Senior Full Stack Engineer

The Senior Full Stack Developer (Backend Focused) will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems, APIs, and database-driven applications. This role requires deep expertise in Node.js, microservices architecture, PostgreSQL/MySQL database design, query optimization, and application performance. While frontend experience is desirable, the primary focus will be on building robust, secure, and high-performing backend services that power enterprise-grade web applications.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, Express.js, and related frameworks.
• Build RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures to support business critical applications.
• Design and implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, SSO).
• Develop reusable backend components and services following industry best practices.
• Drive architectural decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and high availability.

Database Development & Optimization

• Design, develop, and maintain complex database schemas in PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
• Write optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and database scripts.
• Monitor and improve database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.
• Ensure database security, backup strategies, replication, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Manage large datasets and optimize database interactions for high-throughput applications.

Performance & Reliability

• Identify and resolve application bottlenecks, memory leaks, and performance issues.
• Conduct profiling, debugging, monitoring, and root cause analysis across backend services and databases.
• Implement caching strategies using Redis or similar technologies.
• Ensure system reliability through logging, monitoring, alerting, and observability tools.

Collaboration & Quality

• Collaborate with frontend developers to define APIs and integration patterns.
• Participate in architecture reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.
• Conduct peer code reviews and mentor junior developers.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
• Work closely with product teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

DevOps & Cloud

• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation.
• Support cloud-native deployments on AWS.
• Work with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Maintain secure and reliable production environments.

Experience

• 6+ years of commercial software development experience across front-end and strong focus back-end.
• Proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable applications in fast paced environments using Node.js and PostgreSQL/MySQL.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Healthcare, SaaS, or enterprise application experience is highly desirable.
