About the Role
We are looking for a high-performing Senior Financial Planning Assistant (FPA) to lead and strengthen our financial planning support team for an Australian advisory practice.
This role combines hands-on financial planning work with team leadership responsibilities. You will oversee junior FPAs, ensure quality and consistency of outputs, and take ownership of more complex financial planning tasks and problem-solving.
You will work closely with advisers and are expected to operate with strong accountability, sound judgment, and leadership, particularly in a high-standard and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Adviser & Client Support
- Provide day‑to‑day support to Financial Advisers
- Oversee and guide junior FPAs in:
- Client onboarding
- Review preparation
- Follow-ups and tracking
- Coordinate and track tasks across advice, implementation, and reviews
- Ensure advice documentation is complete, accurate, and ready for adviser review
- Handle complex or escalated cases requiring deeper analysis or judgment
Implementation & Reviews
- Oversee and support implementation of advice recommendations (super, investments, insurance, etc.)
- Review and validate work completed by junior FPAs before submission
- Liaise with product providers and platforms as required for more complex cases
- Support and manage annual and ongoing review cycles
- Ensure accurate record-keeping in CRM and document management systems
- Guide the team in tracking outstanding items through to completion
Team Leadership & Quality Control
- Manage and mentor a team of FPAs:
- Set clear expectations on quality and turnaround times
- Provide coaching, feedback, and support
- Ensure accountability across team outputs
- Review and approve work before it is sent to advisers
- Step in on complex, unclear, or high-risk tasks to ensure proper execution
- Drive consistency, structure, and standardization across the team
General Admin & Workflow Management
- Maintain organized, audit-ready client files and documentation
- Oversee scheduling and coordination of client appointments
- Ensure proactive tracking and follow-ups on outstanding tasks
- Lead improvements in admin processes, templates, and workflows
- Support internal initiatives and projects that enhance team efficiency and scalability
- Deliver professional and proactive client service standards
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 4–7+ years experience in Financial Planning Assistant roles
- Strong experience in end-to-end financial planning support
- Prior experience leading or mentoring team members is highly preferred
- Exposure to Australian financial planning environment is an advantage
Technical Capability
- Strong understanding of:
- Financial planning processes
- Investments, superannuation, and insurance
- Ability to handle complex cases independently
- Strong attention to detail and structured documentation approach
