Senior Finance Officer

Job Description

The Senior Finance Officer is responsible for overseeing the organization's financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial planning. This role supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls while leading day-to-day accounting activities and mentoring junior finance team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Oversee general accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support business planning and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies during audits and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor financial controls and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Review financial transactions and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Support payroll, tax filings, and government compliance requirements when applicable.
  • Assist management in financial planning, investment analysis, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, providing guidance and ensuring adherence to finance policies and procedures.
  • Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior-level role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles, taxation, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Experience using accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling financial information.
