Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm NSW, AU Time or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM PH Time
Holiday to follow: NSW, AU Holidays

About the role
Our Client is seeking an experienced, highly analytical, and detail-oriented Estimator / Project Coordinator with 4 to 6 years of local Australian construction Industry experience to join their growing team in Sydney.
As a dynamic building company with a strong reputation for high-quality residential builds and complex renovations, commercial fit-outs and modifications, insurance repairs, and remedial works, the Company prides itself on building things right and pricing them perfectly.
In this pivotal role, you will work directly with the Australian team and act as the true right hand person to the business owner. You will play a fundamental role across the entire project lifecycle, with a primary focus on ensuring zero variance financial accuracy during the estimating phase to eliminate on-site surprises, followed by tight, organised execution during project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Tendering
- Prepare precise trade takeo s and comprehensive material quantifications using, digital plans diagnostic reports, engineering specifications, and site data.
- Manage tender bids seamlessly from the initial query through to submission
deadlines.
- Establish highly detailed scopes of work that clearly break down each project's
unique requirements to eliminate grey areas and prevent post-contract variations.
- Utilise software pricing databases validated against live quotes from local Sydney
suppliers and subcontractors to maintain strict cost accuracy in line with market
trends.
- Conduct rigorous apples-for-apples quote comparisons between competing
subcontractors to ensure no hidden exclusions exist before awarding contracts.
- Evaluate variations and change orders to ensure profitability stays protected
throughout construction.
- Deep understanding of the National Construction Code (NCC) / Building Code of
Australia (BCA), and relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS3740 for waterproofing,
AS3600 for concrete, and AS1684 for timber framing).
- Ability to identify and price compliance-related items such as Home Building
Compensation Fund (HBCF) insurance, Council/DA/CDC conditions, and Long
Service Levies.
- Proven ability to analyse diagnostic reports and engineering specifications for
remedial and renovation works and organise physical site inspections by the
Australian team.
- Expertise in estimating demolition, site-preparation, hazardous material handling
(e.g., asbestos removal), structural propping, and make-good costs.
- Ability to build a realistic contingency framework into renovation tenders to protect
the business from unforeseen structural issues.
- Experience in pricing commercial-grade materials (fire-rated systems, commercial
glazing, acoustic requirements) and specialised commercial trades.
- Ability to factor in commercial project overheads, including site-specific Work
Health & Safety (WHS) compliance, SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements)
preparation costs, and site allowance expectations if applicable.
- Understanding of commercial contract terms, including liquidated damages,
retention sums, and strict variation submission clauses.
- Lead a formal Pre-Construction Handover meeting for won projects, ensuring the
site delivery team completely understands the budget allocations, margins, and
agreed subcontractor scopes.
Project Coordination & Stakeholder Liaison
- Call and qualify subcontractors to ensure competitive, airtight pricing on every
trade package.
- Liaise with trusted suppliers to source high-quality building materials within
scheduled timelines.
- Coordinate procurement workflows to guarantee items arrive on-site exactly when
needed.
- Monitor live project expenditure against the original estimate during construction,
alerting the Owner immediately to any potential budget overruns.
- Conduct a brief post-project financial review to compare estimated and actual
costs, capturing data to improve accuracy in future tenders.
- Collaborate directly with the Owner to provide strategic operational support and
clear financial transparency.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 4 to 6 years of proven estimating and project coordination experience
within the Australian building sector, with a demonstrated track record across
residential new builds, extensions/renovations, commercial modifications, and
structural remedial works.
- Education & Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Construction Management,
Quantity Surveying, or a relevant structural trade background with equivalent hands-
on industry experience.
- Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in BuilderTrend for project tracking,
scheduling, and workflows, alongside proven experience using dedicated digital
takeo software for precise material quantifications.
- Costing Data Expert: Advanced proficiency in using Cordell Estimator (or a verified
equivalent data software tool) to benchmark material and labour rates against
current market fluctuations.
- Communication & Negotiation: Flawless written and spoken English with the ability
to negotiate firmly and professionally with subcontractors regarding scope
exclusions, and articulate variation costs clearly to clients.
- Quality Control & Financial Discipline: Exceptional attention to detail with a hard
rule of checking, verifying and cross-referencing your own takeo s against
engineering details before final submission to achieve a zero-variance target.
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Australian construction
methodologies, the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian
Standards (waterproofing, structural concrete, timber framing), and Workplace
Health & Safety (WHS) requirements for commercial sites.
