Job Description

Haskoning Philippines is recruiting an experienced environmental and social professional to help lead our growing business in the maritime, climate resilience and renewables (offshore wind) market. You will be based in Makati (Philippines), however, travel to our other offices and project locations in APAC, including internationally, may be required based on project demands.

What you do as a Senior Environmental & Social (E&S) Specialist

Specialising in E&S (environmental and social) safeguards, as well as being knowledgeable in the procedures and processes of organisations such as the World Bank and/or the Asian Development Bank, you will have a major impact on our place in the market and our ability to win and execute significant maritime, climate resilience, and renewable projects. You will play a key role in demonstrating and growing our expertise and will also significantly contribute to account management and our profitability and reputation. You will be expected to maintain networks and communications with our priority accounts in order to ensure that we are well known, that we have visibility of forthcoming opportunities and that we have good overall competence in this significant technical area.

You Would Be Our First E&S (environmental And Social) Professional In The Philippines. Our Intention Is To Grow This Team Significantly Over The Coming Years, So We Are Looking For An Experienced Advisor – Someone Who Can Take On Opportunities And Live Projects, Whilst Helping The Business To Identify New Hires And Required Skills. Note That There Is a Team Of 30+ E&S Professionals Across APAC So Support Is Available And Opportunities For a Regional Impact. Responsibilities Will Include, But Not Be Limited To:

  • undertake E&S processes to support the delivery of large-scale projects
  • to provide technical guidance and project direction
  • to provide consultancy level support, to projects, clients, local, and other area teams
  • supervise and review deliverables of less experienced consultants and other sub-professionals in technical works as well as assist in professional development
  • assist where appropriate in business development (meeting potential or actual clients, writing capability statements, preparing marketing materials, leading proposals)
  • to make an active contribution to project work, to include report writing, organisation, consultation, and project management
  • to remain up to date with policy and legislative developments in the environmental, renewables, and marine sectors
  • assist the key account managers for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank in maximising client awareness, visibility of opportunities, and overall sales
  • creates or leads the creation of products, services and/or working methods which can be characterized as innovative / leading edge (in the E&S and Safeguards space)
  • actively involved in external and internal strategic/technical issues; initiates contributions to the business plan of the AG; takes part in strategic business discussions
  • active in growing Haskoning technical / professional excellence
  • makes an annual plan related to own scope or vital strategic issue, which will be embedded in the business plan of the advisory group (AG)

What you bring

Skills

  • highly effective technical and practical scientific E&S skills in the Philippines and potentially the wider APAC market
  • higher education in environmental sciences and (preferably) a good knowledge of the coastal and marine environment
  • high level knowledge of Environmental &Social Safeguards for IFIs and other similar organisations
  • you will have a specialism with one or more environmental sciences or skill sets
  • strong client liaison, management, and relationship development skills
  • the ability to direct and advise on technical matters, teach, mentor and manage project teams
  • able to consistently deliver quality, accurate, and timely work
  • excellent verbal and writing communication skills, including hosting/facilitating meetings/workshops
  • confident team player who can work independently
  • good organisational skills and digital savvy
  • proven track record in leading and conducting EIA for energy development projects
  • proven experience conducting public scoping, stakeholder consultations, and managing Community Grievance Redress Mechanisms

Qualifications

  • relevant Environmental Degree (or equivalent) - essential
  • background and specialisation in E&S approvals / safeguards – essential
  • accredited EMB EIA Preparer - preferred
  • 10+ years experience in E&S
