About the RoleWe are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to architect and manage our multiplayer backend infrastructure, Azure cloud ecosystem, and VR build pipelines. You will take ownership of Microsoft Azure provisioning, PlayFab live-ops configuration, Photon real-time networking infrastructure, automated build farms (Unity/Android), and Meta Quest deployment. We require an infrastructure purist who builds automated, zero-downtime deployment engines and treats manual configuration as a failure of automation.
Core Responsibilities- Azure Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Set up, maintain, and scale our Azure cloud architecture using modern IaC tools like Terraform or Bicep. Manual provisioning in the Azure Portal is prohibited.
- PlayFab & Photon Orchestration: Integrate PlayFab authentication and matchmaking with Photon's real-time multiplayer networking. Manage server plugins, webhooks, and scale custom server fleets to meet concurrent player demands with absolute minimal latency.
- Monitoring & Telemetry: Build detailed monitoring dashboards using Azure Monitor, PlayFab Insights, or Grafana. Track Azure compute utilization, Photon CCU peaks, packet drops, and room state to resolve performance drops before they impact players.
- Cloud Optimization: Analyze infrastructure utilization, eliminate resource leaks, and engineer highly elastic server structures that scale efficiently with player traffic peaks to optimize operational costs.
- VR CI/CD Pipelines: Design automated deployment loops that test, build, and ship VR game binaries. Automate APK generation, asset bundling, and Meta CLI uploads to slash integration friction and maximize developer velocity.
- Incident Response: Act as the primary technical escalation point during production traffic spikes, network congestion, or cloud service outages. Isolate bottlenecks, optimize scaling, and restore services immediately.
Requirements- Cloud & Backend Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience architecting production environments in Microsoft Azure. Extensive knowledge of PlayFab's live-ops suite and Photon multiplayer networking infrastructure.
- VR Publishing Pipelines: Proven experience building CI/CD pipelines for Unity, managing large binary assets (Git LFS, Plastic SCM), and automating releases directly to the Meta Quest Store or App Lab.
- Telemetry & Security: Expert capability managing automated alert systems, secure Azure VNet configurations, firewall optimization, and cryptographic access management.
