Job Description

Senior Designer

Remote · Full-Time

Salary: ₱1,200,000–₱1,600,000 PHP per year, depending on experience and portfolio.

You believe good design earns its place.

That strategy gives creativity direction. That curiosity leads to better ideas. And that the most memorable brands aren't built on trends, they're built on thoughtful thinking.

You care just as much about the why as the what. You bring high standards without a big ego, take ownership without waiting to be asked and know that the smallest details often have the biggest impact.

You're mildly offended by typos. You appreciate beautifully kerned menus. And yes, you've interrupted a conversation to identify a typeface in the wild. We completely understand.

Who is GMD Studio

We're a small independent design studio with big ambitions.

We partner with founders and growing brands who care deeply about what they're building, and they expect the same from us.

We don't believe design is the finish line. We believe it's a tool to help businesses grow. That means asking better questions, thinking commercially, sweating the details and creating brands that people don't just admire, but remember, trust and choose.

Our work spans brand identity, e-commerce, websites, packaging, campaigns and ongoing creative partnerships, so no two projects look exactly the same.

We're building a studio where quality beats quantity, ideas matter more than hierarchy and kindness and high standards happily coexist.

We're also a remote-first team, and most of us work Australian hours, so we're looking for someone who can maintain meaningful overlap with the rest of the team during the day. Beyond that, we trust people to manage their own time, communicate openly and do their best work wherever they're most productive.

The role

This is a senior, hands-on design role.

We're looking for someone who can take a brief, understand the business problem, establish a strong creative direction and then roll up their sleeves and bring it to life.

You'll have genuine creative ownership of projects, while still being on the tools.

We don't want to prescribe every creative decision or hand you a perfectly resolved direction to execute. We want to give you the context, strategy and problem we're trying to solve, then trust you to explore, think and come back with an exciting point of view.

You'll work closely with our founder and wider creative team, but you'll also be trusted to independently lead projects, present your thinking and take work from an early idea through to beautifully considered execution.

How you'll spend your time

Take creative ownership. Lead branding and digital projects from strategy and concept development through to final execution. You'll be trusted to develop the creative direction, not simply execute one that's been handed to you.

Turn strategy into ideas. Translate positioning, customer insights and commercial objectives into distinctive creative concepts and brand worlds that have a reason to exist.

Design. A lot. This is a hands-on role. You'll create brand identities, websites, e-commerce experiences, packaging, campaigns and other brand touchpoints across both digital and physical environments.

Think beyond the logo. Build cohesive visual worlds through typography, colour, art direction, imagery, layout, packaging, digital and campaign applications.

Present your thinking. Take clients through creative work confidently, helping them understand not just what you're proposing, but why.

Build systems, not just beautiful assets. Create thoughtful, scalable design systems that work across channels and are practical for clients and teams to use.

Collaborate across disciplines. Work closely with developers, freelancers and specialists to make sure the creative idea carries through to execution.

Support other designers. Share knowledge and thoughtful feedback when needed, helping raise the standard of work across the team while remaining deeply involved in your own projects.

Keep the commercial goal in sight. Understand what the client is ultimately trying to achieve and consider the customer, market and business alongside the aesthetics.

Help us get better. Bring ideas for improving our processes, experimenting with new tools and technology and continually raising the creative standard of the studio.

What you've done before

We receive a lot of applications, so we want to be transparent about the experience required for this role.

  • 6+ years of professional design experience, preferably including experience within a design studio, branding agency or similarly high-standard creative environment
  • A strong commercial portfolio demonstrating sophisticated brand identity work, including complete identity systems and broader visual worlds, not primarily corporate, social media, production design or event design.
  • Experience working with consumer-facing brands, ideally across DTC, e-commerce, lifestyle, beauty, wellness, food and beverage, fashion, interiors or adjacent categories
  • Experience taking genuine creative ownership of brand projects, from interpreting strategy and developing concepts through to building and executing the final visual system
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma.
  • Exceptional fundamentals across typography, layout, colour, composition and visual storytelling
  • Strong art direction instincts
  • High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
  • An understanding of both digital and print production, ideally including packaging
  • Confidence presenting creative work and clearly articulating the thinking behind your decisions
  • Strong written and verbal English communication
  • The ability to work autonomously without becoming siloed. You communicate, share work, ask questions and actively contribute to the team around you
  • Availability to work full-time with meaningful overlap with Australian business hours

  • If your experience is primarily production design, social content, corporate communications, UX/UI or executing existing brand systems, this particular role is unlikely to be the right fit.

The kind of person who thrives here

You're a thinker as much as a maker. You want to understand the business, customer and problem before opening Figma.

You have taste, but you can explain it. Your decisions aren't based on I just think this looks better. You can articulate why something works.

You take ownership. Give you the goal and enough context and you'll work out how to get there. You don't need someone directing every decision.

You're conceptually strong. You can explore multiple ways into a problem and recognise when an idea has the potential to become something distinctive.

You're curious. About design, people, brands, culture, technology, psychology and whatever rabbit hole you fell into this week.

You're commercially minded. You understand we're designing for real businesses and real customers, not just our own portfolios.

You're collaborative. You communicate clearly, give thoughtful feedback and enjoy working with clients, developers and other creatives.

You have high standards without the ego. You care deeply about producing exceptional work, see feedback as an opportunity to make it better and are genuinely lovely to work with.

Most importantly, you want to be part of building a studio, not just filling a role.

Or, to put it simply: we're looking for someone who's kind, curious, commercially minded and quietly obsessed with doing great work.

    How to apply

Send your portfolio and CV to [Confidential Information].

A portfolio is required to be considered for this role. Applications without one will not progress.

Please send the following to [HIDDEN TEXT]:

    1. Your portfolio, including at least 2–3 commercial brand identity projects that demonstrate the level of your thinking and craft.
    2. A short introduction telling us about you and what you're looking for in your next role.

Before applying, please make sure your portfolio demonstrates the type of work described above. We're unlikely to progress applications without relevant brand identity and digital work, regardless of years of experience.
