Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer – Construction & Industrial Signage to lead the design and engineering of a diverse range of custom signage solutions. This role is responsible for translating client requirements into technically sound, manufacturable products that meet high standards of quality, functionality, and visual impact.

The successful candidate will bridge the gap between concept and fabrication, working closely with Sales, Project Management, Production, and Installation teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and installation-ready.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on design excellence, engineering accuracy, and manufacturing integration. It is best suited for a professional who enjoys solving complex design challenges and seeing projects through from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering

• Develop creative design concepts and visualizations for a wide range of signage and wayfinding solutions.
• Produce detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation.
• Translate client requirements into practical and manufacturable design solutions.
• Ensure all designs comply with manufacturing, structural, and installation requirements.
• Create and maintain accurate production-ready files for fabrication and printing processes.
• Prepare CNC, CAM, and large-format print files when required.
• Produce fabrication instructions, bill of materials, and installation documentation.
  
  

Manufacturing Integration

• Work closely with production teams to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently and accurately.
• Optimize material usage, fabrication methods, and production workflows.
• Identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising quality.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of manufacturing or installation challenges.
• Ensure designs consider ease of fabrication, transportation, and installation.
  
  

Project Collaboration

• Collaborate with Sales and Project Management teams during project planning and design development.
• Provide technical advice regarding design feasibility and manufacturing requirements.
• Coordinate with installation teams regarding site-specific requirements and constraints.
• Respond promptly to design-related queries throughout project delivery.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  
  

Quality & Continuous Improvement:

• Maintain high standards of design quality, documentation accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Conduct thorough reviews of drawings and production files before release.
• Contribute to improving design systems, standards, and workflows.
• Research emerging materials, fabrication techniques, and signage technologies.
• Assist in refining design procedures and best-practice methodologies.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Advanced training or certification in CAD/CAM, engineering drawing, or Design for Manufacture (DFM) is highly preferred.
• Proven experience in signage manufacturing, architectural fabrication, industrial design, or similar technical design environments.
  
  

Technical Skills

Design Software

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for detailed design and shop drawings.
• Strong knowledge of CorelDRAW and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
• Experience using CAM/CNC preparation software such as EnRoute or similar tools.
• Ability to prepare production-ready files for manufacturing and printing applications.
  
  

Engineering & Construction Knowledge

• Ability to produce detailed technical drawings and installation documentation.
• Strong understanding of structural and installation requirements related to signage systems.
• Knowledge of materials, fabrication methods, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with illuminated signage systems including LED, neon, and edge-lit applications.
• Understanding of environmental durability and weathering requirements.
  
  

Production & Manufacturing:

• Experience preparing files for CNC routers, laser cutters, and large-format printers.
• Strong understanding of routing, printing, laminating, trimming, and assembly processes.
• Ability to design for manufacturability and efficient installation.
• Understanding of production workflows and fabrication constraints.
  
  

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in signage manufacturing, architectural fabrication, industrial design, or related industries.
• Proven experience delivering projects from concept through to installation-ready documentation.
• Experience managing multiple projects in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding and practical application of Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles.
• Experience collaborating closely with production and installation teams.
