Position: Senior Data Engineer

Job Summary: The Senior Data Engineer implements volumes of highly resilient data pipelines while ensuring high quality of data and fast data speed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for designing and implementing scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to handle large-scale data processing
- They lead architectural decisions for data infrastructure, optimize database performance, and ensure data quality through robust frameworks and monitoring systems
- Collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders is essential to support analytics and machine learning initiatives
- Additionally, they mentor junior engineers, troubleshoot complex data issues, and maintain documentation while driving best practices for data engineering across teams.
- Manage Big Data initiatives for the Data Science Group working closely with IT and Data Science
- Ensure data requirements for the Data Science Group are met
- Collaborate with IT to develop industrialized Data Science workflow and environments
- Leverage on both open source and enterprise tools to create end-to-end automated pipelines
- Work closely with Data Scientists and Analysts to automate common data management processes across the group
- Recommend and implement data models that will support requirements to industrialize Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Campaigns, Modeling and Artificial Intelligence initiatives
- Ensure that data models are agnostic of the source
- - Establish data quality checks to identify data integrity issues and report findings to Technology Management for resolution
- Establish standardization and clean-up rules to improve data quality
- Ensure availability and accuracy of data marts
- Explore external sources of data that can enrich existing customer information
- Conduct ongoing best practice research to continuously improve current data management and analytics processes
- Ensures Data Management and Analytics tools/processes are at par with global standards
- Act as Team Leader and manage Big Data Initiatives for the Data Science Group, working closely with the Technology team, vendors, and consultatns.
- Establish and manage Data User Group to improve the understanding of data across the bank, promote consistency of KPI definition and maintain data dictionary.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates typically hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with at least 57 years of experience in data engineering
- They must demonstrate expertise in SQL, Python or Java, ETL tools, data modeling, and data warehousing, along with familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and distributed computing systems like Hadoop or Spark
- Strong problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and excellent communication are also critical, alongside knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance.
