Job Summary
We are looking for highly skilled Senior/Principal Azure Data Engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable cloud-based data platforms and modern data pipelines within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
In this role, you will apply software engineering best practices to develop robust, automated, and high-performing data solutions that support enterprise analytics, reporting, and advanced data initiatives. You will work closely with data architects, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable data products.
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Azure data services, ETL/ELT development, big data technologies, and CI/CD practices, with a passion for solving complex data challenges and driving technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft Azure technologies such as:
- Azure Data Factory (ADF)
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Databricks
- Microsoft Fabric
- Build and manage cloud-based data storage solutions using:
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Azure Blob Storage
- Develop reusable, modular, and high-performing data engineering solutions aligned with modern software engineering principles.
- Collaborate with data architects, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions.
- Optimize Azure-based data pipelines for scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Implement data validation, monitoring, and quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity and consistency.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices for data engineering processes and solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data pipeline and platform issues in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment and release management of data solutions.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and Azure platform enhancements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, or similar role focused on data integration and ETL/ELT development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
- Azure Blob Storage
- Strong SQL development skills and experience working with modern relational databases such as:
- SQL Server
- PostgreSQL
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including:
- CI/CD
- Version control
- Automated testing
- Code reviews
- Experience with big data and distributed processing technologies such as Apache Spark.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong programming experience in Python (preferred), or other languages such as Scala, Java, or C#.
- Experience building Spark applications using PySpark.
- Hands-on experience working with modern data formats such as:
- Parquet
- Delta Lake
- Avro
- Experience integrating and consuming REST APIs or external API-based data sources.
- Good understanding of Azure infrastructure concepts including:
- Subscriptions
- Resource Groups
- Identity and Access Management
- Experience using Git-based workflows in software development.
- Experience with Azure DevOps pipelines and repositories for deployment automation.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, consulting capability, and strong learning agility.
