Nature of the Position

The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and maintains reliable, secure, and scalable data pipelines and data platforms that support business operations and decision-making. Responsible for ensuring data products are accurate, well-modelled, governed, and optimized for analytics and reporting. Works closely with engineering and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions that improve automation, efficiency, and insight generation.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Platform Delivery

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data sources.
• Build and optimize data models, semantic layers, and transformation logic to support BI and reporting.
• Develop and maintain integrations between SaaS platforms and internal systems using APIs, webhooks, and data mapping.
• Ensure data quality through validation frameworks, monitoring, error handling, and documentation.
• Support incident resolution related to data pipelines and integrations, performing root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and implement scalable, maintainable data solutions aligned to engineering standards.
  
  

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness and Digital Enablement

• Maintain baseline AI literacy relevant to their role, including the ability to understand, use, and evaluate AI-supported tools for work efficiency and decision-making.
• Use approved AI tools and digital systems in compliance with company policies, data privacy requirements, information security standards, and client confidentiality obligations.
• Apply sound judgment in AI use by validating outputs, avoiding overreliance, and ensuring accuracy, fairness, and professional accountability for all work delivered.
• Participate in required AI readiness trainings, upskilling programs, and continuous improvement initiatives as part of Smartsourcing's innovation and learning culture.
• Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement through automation, digitization, and responsible AI integration within their scope of work.
  
  

What You'll Need to SucceedEducation

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  
  

Experience

• Strong experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, and data platform design
• Experience working with APIs, webhooks, authentication mechanisms, and system integrations
• Hands-on experience in data modeling, transformation, and semantic layer development
• Familiarity with BI/reporting tools and analytics enablement
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident troubleshooting for data systems
• Understanding of DevOps and SDLC best practices
