Onboarding: First month fully onsite; then hybrid 3 days onsite per week

Role Overview

In this hands-on, role, you will help scale our internal Market Abuse Surveillance system (ACMS) and re-engineer the data mapping layer for Scila. Scila is a world-leading provider of systems for market/trade surveillance, AML and market risk. This is a unique opportunity to move away from people management and focus entirely on high-impact technical architecture, complex data mapping, and pioneering AI-driven surveillance automation.

Role Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Models in the in-house Market Abuse Surveillance system
• Identify opportunities to leverage AI solutions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the solutions delivered to Compliance Surveillance stakeholders.
• Re-engineer the data mapping layer to the vendor solution
• Write unit, integration, and infrastructure tests
• Working with Data Engineers in the team, contribute to the design and build of data pipelines and workflows between the source data points and target destinations.
• Ensure solutions delivered are in compliance with regulatory, legal, and security protocols.
• Work closely with surveillance analysts, compliance officers, and engineering teams to translate business rules into technical specifications.
• Partnering closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts such as the Cloud Infrastructure team to optimise performance and costs.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging tech to ensure continuous improvement

Past Experience, Knowledge & Personal Attributes

Required Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in SQL for building complex business rules and data mappings.
• Strong backend coding proficiency in Python and Java.
• Deep expertise in cloud data pipelines and the AWS ecosystem (e.g., Glue, EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB).
• Demonstrated experience in ETL/ELT pipeline design, implementation, and maintenance for high-volume data.
• Hands-on experience with AI or automation technologies to optimize manual processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively as an autonomous technical leader.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong experience with Agile software delivery

Desirable Skills:

• Experience integrating or working with Scila alerting tools.
• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence, data analytics or data science-related skills.
• Domain knowledge of financial markets, trading cycles, order systems, or regulatory compliance.
• Familiarity with streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis), modern orchestration frameworks (Airflow, dbt, Spark), and observability tools (Grafana).
• Experience with building solutions using Amazon Kiro.
