Company Description

Xpress is a Philippines-based mobility and transport platform operating ride-hailing, EV/hybrid taxis, motorcycle taxis, concierge services, and corporate transport across Metro Manila and key regional cities. We run a mixed model — owned fleet and marketplace — which means our data problems are real operational problems, not academic exercises. Every query you write affects whether a driver earns a living and whether a passenger gets home.

Why This Role Exists

We are building our data capability from the ground up. This is the first senior analytics hire in the company. You will define how Xpress uses data operationally — setting standards, building the foundational dashboards, and mentoring the analysts who come after you. This is not a role where you inherit a mature data team. You are the data team, and you will shape it.

What You Will Own

• Marketplace Intelligence — Build and maintain the core marketplace health dashboards: trips per driver per day, supply-demand matching rates, estimated time of arrival accuracy, and service zone performance
• Cancellation & Dispatch Analysis — Diagnose why rides fail before they start. Our data shows that the vast majority of passenger-initiated cancellations happen before a driver is ever assigned. Your job is to make that problem visible, measurable, and trackable so operations can fix it
• Zone-Level Operations Reporting — Deliver zone-level reads on where supply and demand are balanced, where they are not, and what the gap costs us. This directly drives where the company invests marketing spend and deploys drivers
• Data Practice Standards — Define SQL standards, dashboard templates, naming conventions, and documentation norms for the analytics team. You set the bar
• Team Development — Review work, set priorities, and develop the skills of 2-3 junior/mid-level analysts who will join after you
• Cross-Functional Translation — Translate data into language that a CEO, an operations head, or a fleet manager can act on. You are not writing reports for other analysts

What We Are Looking For

• 4-6 years of hands-on analytics experience, with at least 2 years working on transactional or operational data (logistics, mobility, fintech, e-commerce marketplaces, or delivery platforms strongly preferred)
• Advanced SQL — you can write complex queries against messy production databases without hand-holding
• Experience with a cloud data warehouse (Databricks, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
• Experience with at least one product analytics platform (Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)
• Ability to build dashboards that operations teams actually use daily, not decks that get looked at once
• Clear communication — you can explain what the data says and what it means to non-technical stakeholders
• Comfort with ambiguity — you will often need to figure out the right question before you can answer it

Nice to Have

• Experience with Databricks SQL or Apache Spark
• Familiarity with mobile app attribution platforms (AppsFlyer, Adjust, Branch)
• Python for data manipulation and automation
• Experience in the Philippines transport, mobility, or logistics sector
• Previous experience as a team lead or mentor for junior analysts

What You Should Know

This is a startup. The data infrastructure exists (Databricks, Amplitude, production databases) but the analytics layer is early. You will not walk into polished dbt models and a clean semantic layer. You will walk into real data, real operational problems, and the authority to build the right solution.
