Senior Customer Solutions Architect (Infrastructure & SAP Focus)
We are seeking a proactive, highly professional Senior Customer Solutions Architect with a robust background in IT infrastructure and specific expertise in managing and architecting SAP environments. This role requires a broad technical skill set, strong stakeholder management abilities, and a structured approach to delivering complex, business-critical solutions. The ideal candidate will bridge technical operations with strategic business goals, acting as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and external customers.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
The Architect will:
- Architectural Design & Documentation: Hold accountability for high-level architectural designs and documentation of enterprise systems, with a particular focus on SAP-specific solutions. This includes developing high availability and disaster recovery designs for database and server infrastructure.
- Operational Support & Incident Management: Provide expert support for operational incidents of a critical and major level, including specialized SAP Basis-related issues, and support troubleshooting and performance tuning efforts.
- Continuous Improvement & Standards: Drive continuous technology and process improvements, assist in developing and maintaining IT policies, standards, and disaster recovery designs for enterprise systems, including entire SAP landscapes.
- Commercial & Opportunity Management: Maintain an even focus on commercial and architectural aspects, including developing cost-optimized SAP hosting or migration strategies. Identify business opportunities and define/document the technical scope of transformation projects.
- Technology Roadmap Leadership: Lead technology architecture roadmaps related to lifecycle management, SAP release strategies, and technological developments, ensuring co-accountability for continuous service improvements.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders, including SAP technical and functional teams, communicating complex technical issues to management and building strong relations.
- Reporting & Monitoring: Support monthly reporting activities for agreed KPIs related to system health and performance and utilize SAP Basis monitoring tools (e.g., SAP Solution Manager, SAP Focused Run) for proactive issue resolution.
Required Qualifications and Experience
We expect candidates to meet the following criteria:
Technical Expertise
- Infrastructure Breadth: Broad knowledge of operational technologies including server, database technologies, hardware, virtualization technology (focus on VMware ESXi), SAN storage systems, and backup systemsespecially for architecture design involving SAP Basis infrastructure.
- Cloud Proficiency: Knowledge and experience with cloud services within Microsoft Azure and AWS services, including deployments of SAP S/4HANA in cloud or hybrid environments.
- SAP Specifics: Experience in IT infrastructure management, security management, solution design, and server transitions (P2V). Experience in SAP system migrations/upgrades (e.g., ECC to S/4HANA) is highly desirable. Experience with SAP S/4HANA migration projects is a strong advantage.
- Operating Systems: Proficiency in various operating systems, including Windows Server, RHEL, and AIX.
Professional Skills & Attributes
- Experience: A relevant degree with supplementary education and more than five (5) years of work experience as an Architect or IT specialist. Experience at an IT service provider or large company infrastructure is an advantage.
- Methodology: Knowledge and experience working with ITIL practices, understanding what it takes to ensure the availability, capacity, and continuity of IT operations.

Desirable Bonus Skills
- SAP Security: Expertise in SAP Security Management, including user access control, role design, and compliance monitoring, is a plus.

Work Schedule
Employees will be expected to adhere to a flexible hybrid work schedule, with a required presence in the office for 1 day per week, allowing for customization of work hours within a specified morning or mid-shift time frame.
