Job Description
Senior Content Manager
This is not a traditional content-writing role. We are looking for someone who can combine content strategy, planning, AI agents, and localized SEO content to support rankings, leads, and business growth.
About the Role
You will work closely with and report to our SEO Manager, collaborating with our Web Development and AI teams to turn keyword data, SEO insights, and business goals into clear content strategies that align with each client's objectives.
The SEO Manager leads keyword research, SEO reporting, and performance analysis, and will provide direction, guidelines, and quality standards. You will support this work by conducting supplementary keyword and competitor research where needed, interpreting the data provided, and translating it into content plans, briefs, and page-level recommendations.
Responsibilities
Content Creation and Strategy
You will develop and produce content across:
- Website home pages and service pages
- Location pages
- Ads landing pages
- Blog posts
- Press releases
- Social media content
- Content calendars
You will identify content gaps, recommend new opportunities, and improve existing content based on search intent, competition, and performance.
Localized Content
You must have strong experience creating localized content built around each client's specific market, service, and city, not templated pages with swapped city names. This includes understanding local market context, service area nuances, and the signals that make location pages rank and convert.
Writing for Local Businesses
You must have proven experience writing content for local and service-area businesses such as home services and contractors. This means understanding how local customers search, what they need to see before they call, and how to write in a voice that fits a local business rather than a national brand. You will not be doing this alone. The SEO Manager will provide guidance, client context, and market direction, but you should already have hands-on experience in this area.
Topical Authority, Entities, and Coherence
You must have experience building topical authority through structured content coverage, entity optimization, and topical coherence across a site, including internal linking, content clustering, and semantic relevance. The SEO Manager will provide guidance and help shape the approach for each
client, but you should be able to apply these concepts confidently on your own.
AI Agents and AI Workflows
You must have experience training AI agents and building content workflows using AI agents. This includes defining how agents support research, planning, writing, editing, SEO, fact-checking, and quality review, while ensuring human oversight remains part of the process. This is a collaborative effort. The SEO Manager will help define the guidelines, prompts, and standards these workflows follow, but you should already be comfortable building and refining them.
Content Planning and Quality
You will create clear content briefs and review content for accuracy, readability, structure, tone, search intent, and local relevance. You will also help ensure AI-generated content sounds natural, follows U.S. English standards, and avoids generic, repetitive, or unsupported information.
Collaboration
You will work mostly with the SEO Manager in developing content strategies that align with client goals, and closely with the Web Development team on implementation, page structure, and on-page execution.
Required Experience
- At least 3 - 5 years of experience in content strategy, SEO content, or a related field
- Strong experience with content planning, search intent, and content performance
- Working knowledge of keyword research and competitor analysis, with the ability to map keywords to the correct pages
- Proven experience creating localized, city-level and service-level content
- Proven experience writing content for local and service-area businesses
- Experience with topical authority, entity optimization, and topical coherence
- Experience training AI agents and building AI-powered content workflows
- Excellent written and spoken English
Required and Preferred Tools
You must have practical experience using AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude, along with Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, and AI agent platforms.
Experience with prompt systems, structured outputs, knowledge bases, and human-in-the-loop workflows will be considered an advantage.
You May Be a Great Fit If You
- You think strategically, enjoy working with SEO data, and can turn research into practical content recommendations.
- You understand how to use AI effectively without compromising quality, accuracy, originality, or brand voice.
- You are comfortable collaborating across teams and take ownership of results.
Working Hours
This is a full-time remote position. The selected candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday during Eastern Time business hours. Please note that Eastern Time alternates between EST and EDT depending on daylight saving time.
