Position Overview

The SAP Cloud Integration Suite Consultant is responsible for designing, delivering, and governing enterprise integration solutions using SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh, Open Connectors).
Depending on experience, the role may focus on hands on integration delivery (Consultant) or integration architecture, standards, and platform strategy (Architect). The role works closely with SAP functional teams, enterprise architects, security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure integrations are secure, scalable, reusable, and aligned with SAP best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Integration Design & Delivery
- Design and implement integrations using SAP Cloud Integration (CPI).
- Develop interfaces using iFlows, adapters, mappings, and routing patterns.
- Build REST, OData, SOAP, IDoc, and event-based integrations (synchronous and asynchronous patterns).
- Integrate SAP S/4HANA, ECC, SuccessFactors, Ariba, Concur, and non-SAP systems.
- Implement error handling, logging, message monitoring, and operational traceability.
Operations, Monitoring & Support
- Configure monitoring and alerting using SAP Integration Suite capabilities.
- Support deployments, upgrades, and transport management.
- Troubleshoot complex integration and performance issues.
- Contribute to operational documentation and support runbooks.
Collaboration & Advisory
- Collaborate with SAP functional, technical, and enterprise architecture teams.
- Advise stakeholders on SAP integration approaches and trade-offs.
- Mentor junior consultants and integration developers (Senior/Architect levels).
Skills, Experience and Competencies
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in SAP Cloud Integration Suite (CPI) and SAP integration patterns.
- Experience integrating SAP and non-SAP systems across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise landscapes.
- Knowledge of adapters, mappings, routing patterns, and messaging models.
- Understanding of API-based integration (REST/OData/SOAP) and event-driven integration approaches.
- Familiarity with SAP security, authentication, and cloud connectivity concepts.
Experience (Senior Consultant):
- 6–8 years overall IT experience.
- 4–6 years hands-on SAP integration experience (including SAP CPI).
- Strong focus on implementation and delivery.
Competencies
- Apply fit-for-purpose governance, decision records, guardrails, and quality controls to reduce rework and improve outcome certainty.
- Ability to coordinate multiple delivery streams and third parties to maintain alignment to scope, milestones, and expectations.
- Understand scope boundaries, assumptions, dependencies and customer-furnished inputs (CFIs) and factors them into delivery planning.
- Systems thinking for complex SI navigating ambiguity and change in multi-system integrations; adapts delivery approach (agile/waterfall/hybrid) based on complexity.
- Integration strategy & operating model supporting integration roadmaps and operating models spanning service delivery, people, technology, performance, governance and process.
- Secure-by-design mindset embedding security, privacy and access controls into integration design and delivery, not as an afterthought.
- Reusable patterns & accelerators leveraging reference architectures, standards, templates and accelerators to increase delivery velocity and consistency.
- Operational readiness designing for run (monitoring, support model, documentation/runbooks) to ensure stable operation post go-live.
Qualifications and Certifications
- SAP Certified Development Associate – Integration Suite / CPI (preferred)
- Other SAP Integration or SAP Technology certifications.
- SAP Architecture or cloud certifications (desirable for Architect level).
