About the role:

Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer / Senior DevOps Engineer Level 3

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer / DevOps Engineer L3 to design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure and DevOps solutions across AWS and Alibaba Cloud environments. This role will be responsible for architecting and managing containerized workloads in Kubernetes, developing CI/CD pipelines, managing API gateways (Kong), and ensuring operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and thorough documentation.

The L3 engineer will act as a technical leader within the team, mentoring junior engineers, contributing to architectural decisions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure Management

• Architect, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud solutions on AWS and Alibaba Cloud.
• Manage networking, compute, storage, and security configurations in multi-cloud environments.
• Ensure infrastructure compliance with company security and regulatory requirements.

Kubernetes & Containerization

• Deploy, configure, and optimize Kubernetes clusters (EKS, ACK, or self-managed) for production workloads.
• Implement container orchestration best practices, including autoscaling, monitoring, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Troubleshoot and optimize Kubernetes deployments, networking, and storage integrations.

DevOps & CI/CD

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.
• Integrate automated testing, security scans, and deployment strategies into CI/CD workflows.
• Manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent tools.

API Gateway & Service Management

• Configure and maintain Kong API Gateway for secure, high-performance API traffic management.
• Implement authentication, rate limiting, logging, and monitoring for API services.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Produce clear, detailed technical documentation for architecture, deployments, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
• Maintain runbooks, knowledge base articles, and architecture diagrams to support operational readiness.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical knowledge-sharing sessions.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering or DevOps roles, with at least 5 years at L3 or Senior level.
• Hands-on expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.) and Alibaba Cloud (ECS, VPC, SLB, ACK, OSS, etc.).
• Proven experience in Kubernetes administration and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of Git version control and branching strategies.
• Expertise in CI/CD tools and pipeline automation.
• Experience with Kong API Gateway or equivalent API management platforms.
• Strong Linux administration and scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.).
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions (OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Cloud-native tools).
• Experience with container security scanning and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud networking strategies.
• Exposure to Alibaba Cloud-specific services in enterprise deployments.
