Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer – Roads & Drainage to join our multidisciplinary design team, primarily supporting the development of data centre projects.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and design support across civil infrastructure disciplines, ensuring project requirements and client specifications are fully achieved. This position requires a results-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, problem-solving ability, project coordination skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions from concept design through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key member of the design team, supporting the successful delivery of project objectives and providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver roads, drainage, and external infrastructure designs for data centre and building development projects.
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, drawings, reports, and contract documentation.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company procedures.
- Provide infrastructure engineering services, including road design, drainage design, site development, and external works coordination.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions.
- Identify and manage scope, programme, and budget changes in accordance with project change control procedures.
- Monitor project schedules and maintain cost control across assigned design scopes.
- Represent the civil engineering discipline at client, consultant, contractor, and stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain technical quality and consistency across project deliverables.
- Keep current with industry developments, legislative requirements, and national and international standards.
- Take ownership of personal professional development and training requirements.
- Support the planning and delivery of engineering activities within agreed budgets, programmes, and schedules while maintaining technical integrity.
- Managing small projects, workstreams, or specialist technical areas.
- Forecasting and planning future resource requirements.
- Developing project plans and supporting project delivery strategies.
- Allocating tasks and coordinating multidisciplinary team activities.
- Leading the delivery of engineering initiatives, processes, and project activities that contribute to business objectives.
- Supporting the performance and professional development of engineers and technicians through mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance.
- Contributing to team capability growth through training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards professional chartership.
- Extensive experience in roads, drainage, and civil infrastructure design within an engineering consultancy environment.
- Proven experience delivering projects from concept design through detailed design and construction support.
- Experience working on plot developments, external works, and infrastructure associated with commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
- Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles throughout all stages of the design process.
- Familiarity with complementary disciplines, including ground modelling, site grading, utility services distribution, and landscaping.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and associated civil engineering design software.
- Strong knowledge of relevant local and international design standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high levels of technical quality and client service.
