Role Overview
The Senior BIM Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality MEP Revit models and drawings, with a strong focus on mechanical ventilation, fire detection, and fire protection systems.
This role works closely with BIM and engineering teams, including Australian-based project engineers, and supports coordination and delivery across multiple projects. Experience in building services is fully acceptable. Tunnel or transport experience is not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of MEP BIM models in Revit for:
Mechanical ventilation systems
- Fire detection systems
- Fire protection systems
- Produce accurate and coordinated 2D and 3D Revit documentation
- Prepare plant room layouts, sections, details, and coordinated services drawings
- Support BIM coordination activities, including clash detection using Navisworks
- Review models and drawings to ensure quality and compliance with BIM standards
- Coordinate closely with Project Engineers and BIM team members
- Translate design inputs and sketches into constructible BIM outputs
- Support tender and design development works as required
- Apply and help uphold company and project CAD/BIM standards
- Assist and guide junior BIM Technicians when needed
- Follow QA, document control, and file management procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or vocational qualification in Engineering or a related field
- Strong technical background in MEP BIM modelling
Experience & Skills
- 810 years of solid experience in MEP Revit modelling
- Proven expertise in Mechanical ventilation, Fire detection and Fire protection systems
- Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP
- Practical experience using Navisworks for coordination
- Ability to independently handle complex models and drawings
- Strong understanding of BIM standards and documentation requirements
- Experience in building services projects
- Tunnel or transport infrastructure experience is a plus, not a requirement
- Clear communicator, comfortable working with local and offshore teams
