Work from home and join a fast-growing Australian fintech company! We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer who has a background with Team Management, Python and Cloud Development.

Minimum Requirements

• General Qualifications:
• Be a Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines
• Secure a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

• Professional Experience:
• Command a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 4 years focused on high-traffic, low-latency backend services
• Demonstrate a proven track record of leading the design and implementation of new, complex microservices or migrating legacy monolithic systems
• Exhibit extensive experience in diagnosing and resolving critical performance bottlenecks and scaling issues in production environments
• Technical Skills:
• Master two or more core backend programming languages (Java, Go, Python) and their advanced performance characteristics, concurrency models, and memory management
• Command expert proficiency in distributed system concepts (consensus algorithms, distributed caching, event sourcing) and apply them to build reliable, fault-tolerant systems
• Possess advanced proficiency in writing complex database queries and procedures, performing schema migrations, and optimizing large-scale database operations (SQL/NoSQL)
• Specialized Knowledge:
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of system architecture and design patterns (Saga, Circuit Breaker, CQRS) and drive architectural discussions for core services
• Possess in-depth knowledge of observability best practices, including setting up and leveraging advanced tracing, logging, and metrics systems (Jaeger, OpenTelemetry)
• Exhibit proven capability in mentoring engineers on robust coding practices, technical deep dives, and complex system troubleshooting
  

Good To Have

• Hold a professional certification in advanced cloud architecture or distributed systems design (specific cloud certification at Professional/Specialty level)
• Bring experience leading or contributing significantly to open-source projects related to the company's technology stack
• Possess expert knowledge of message brokering and stream processing technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ) for inter-service communication
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development and Engineering:
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code
• Develop robust, secure, and scalable APIs and web services
• Implement data storage solutions, including database schema design and optimization
• Ensure optimal performance, stringent security, and seamless scalability of backend systems
• Integrate third-party services and platforms effectively
• Write comprehensive technical documentation for all backend services
• System Architecture and Infrastructure:
• Contribute actively to the comprehensive design and architecture of backend systems, microservices, and distributed systems
• Recommend or propose appropriate technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns for backend development
• Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to improve system capabilities and performance
• Quality Assurance and Testing:
• Write and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests for all backend code
• Ensure the quality, reliability, and data integrity of all backend functionalities
• Conduct thorough performance and load testing on backend systems
• Deployment and Operations:
• Collaborate seamlessly with DevOps team for the smooth deployment, scaling, and operational aspects of backend services
• Monitor backend service performance, latency, and error rates in production environments
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate effectively with product managers, frontend engineers, QA engineers and other backend engineers to define requirements and deliver robust solutions
• Actively participate in code reviews, providing technical guidance and sharing specialized knowledge
• Document API specifications and system behaviors clearly and accurately
• Maintenance and Technical Support:
• Debug and resolve critical issues in existing backend services and APIs efficiently
• Perform performance tuning, profiling, and optimization of backend systems
• Manage database migrations and schema evolution with precision
• Process Improvement and Best Practices:
• Stay informed about new backend technologies, architectural patterns, and industry best practices
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of backend development workflows, tools, and methodologies
• Champion code quality, security, and performance standards across the team
  

This is a full-time position following the 9 AM to 6 PM Manila schedule.
