Senior Autodesk Advanced Steel Draftsperson (Mining)

Are you a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of drafting experience, advanced mastery of Autodesk Advance Steel, and proven success delivering mining projects for Tier-1 clients like BHP, Rio Tinto, or FMG

Our client is seeking a Senior Autodesk Advanced Steel Draftsperson to take ownership of drafting workflows for major mining infrastructure projects in direct collaboration with Perth-based engineering teams. In this role, you will transform shared engineering models into production-ready drawings, directly shaping the massive infrastructure that powers the global resources sector.

Client Overview:

Our client is an established engineering consultancy firm specializing in mining sector projects. They deliver engineering, modeling, and drafting services to major mining clients including FMG, BHP, and Rio Tinto. As they expand their drafting operations, they're building a remote team to support engineers in Perth with detailed drawing production and model development.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Australian Western Standard Time (AWST), with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed technical drawings from engineering models for mining infrastructure projects
• Work within Autodesk Advanced Steel to edit models and generate drawings without export limitations
• Collaborate with Perth-based engineers to ensure design intent is accurately captured in documentation
• Maintain drawing quality and consistency standards required by major mining clients including BHP, Rio Tinto, and FMG
• Manage multiple drawing packages simultaneously while meeting project deadlines
• Apply mining industry drafting standards and specifications to all deliverables
• Communicate effectively with the engineering team to resolve design queries and clarify requirements
• Adapt to existing workflow processes and performance metrics

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of professional drafting experience
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Advanced Steel
• Demonstrated experience working on mining industry projects
• Experience with major mining clients such as BHP, Rio Tinto, or FMG
• Strong technical drawing skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently within established workflows

Qualifications:

• AutoCAD expertise as a secondary tool (bonus)
• Experience exporting and working with multiple file formats
