Role Description The Senior AU Tax Accountant is a full-time remote role responsible for managing Australian tax compliance and advisory services for a portfolio of clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing individual, company, trust, and SMSF tax returns, BAS, IAS, and FBT returns, as well as ensuring timely lodgments and adherence to ATO regulations. The role involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, maintaining accurate accounting records, and reconciling accounts to support tax calculations. The Senior AU Tax Accountant will provide guidance on tax planning opportunities, respond to ATO queries, and support clients with technical tax issues. This position also includes collaborating with internal teams and client stakeholders, improving processes, and mentoring junior team members where required.

Qualifications

  • Strong Australian tax technical skills, including Tax Compliance, Tax Preparation, and general Tax knowledge for individuals, companies, trusts, and SMSFs.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and applying Accounting principles to support accurate reporting and tax calculations.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA/CPA or equivalent professional certification is highly regarded.
  • Experience working with Australian clients, ATO regulations, and common tax and accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple client engagements remotely.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused mindset and the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting, collaborate across teams, and maintain high levels of integrity and confidentiality.
