Job Description

Position Overview

The role is a leadership position within the Global Market Securities Settlements team at BNP Paribas Solutions Philippines Branch. The primary purpose is to lead a team in managing the timely and cost-effective settlement of North & South America Domestic Security transactions (including Bonds, Equities, Complex Securities, ETF, SLAB, and Repo). The role focuses on matching commitments with counterparties, resolving nostro and depot breaks, and mitigating operational and reputational risks in accordance with Group and Regulatory Policies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Settlement Management: Oversee the settlement of security transactions booked in Calypso; ensure trades are instructed, matched, and settled promptly; monitor and reduce failing trades through pairing off or partial deliveries; and manage cash funding for trades.
  • Reconciliation & Resolution: Resolve Nostro and Depot reconciliation breaks by investigating reports from Securities Control teams, passing entries into Calypso, and rectifying accounting breaks.
  • Risk Mitigation: Minimize settlement costs and operational risks by adhering to compliance rules, monitoring market risks (buy-ins), improving STP (Straight-Through Processing) rates via static data updates, and reducing manual instructions to agents.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Maintain strong professional relationships with traders, sales, domestic agents, and custodians; collaborate with other operational departments and provide regular updates to direct managers.
  • Escalation: Promptly escalate operational risks and potential problems to direct management.

Required Education, Skills and Experience (Must Have)

  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience in Prime Brokerage US Domestic Settlements operations for Equities or a relevant operations background.
  • Availability: Must be amenable to working the US Shift schedule (9:00 pm to 6:00 am SGT).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze, organize, and report information efficiently.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility regarding working methods and the ability to operate in a changing international environment.
  • Resilience: Ability to maintain performance excellence within a high-pressure environment.
  • Compliance: Strong diligence in following established procedures and Compliance policies.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience (Nice to Have)

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field, or relevant professional certifications.
  • Prior hands-on experience with Calypso or other industry-standard settlement and trading platforms.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or mentoring role within a global financial operations environment.
