Job Description

Purpose:

Responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies to optimize the value of Malampaya gas and condensate resources. Ensure robust contract management, stakeholder engagement and alignment, and operational excellence in a highly dynamic environment, directly supporting the organization's growth and value creation objectives. Support in sales contract and regulatory compliance of complex issues. Support in commercial contract review of growth opportunities.

THE ROLE

  • Gas and Condensate Sales Contracting Activities: Lead and/or collaborate with cross-functional teams to frame, coordinate and integrate hydrocarbon sales strategy for uncontracted and future volumes, including customer engagement and contract structuring, taking into consideration market analysis. Ensure hydrocarbon sales agreements, taking into account financial, technical and operational requirements.
  • Ensure Strong Contractual Position with Stakeholders: Oversee hydrocarbon allocation and contract compliance across multiple supply agreements, proactively managing commercial risks. Ensure that position relating to hydrocarbon sales are strong and defensible. This includes formulation of commercial advocacies, and formal and informal communications thereof.
  • Gather Commercial and Market Intelligence and Champion Enterprise Capability in Energy Markets: Mentor commercial advisor to strengthen team capability through practical guidance and shared learning. Champion enterprise-wide fit for purpose upskilling in energy markets and commercial principles. Spearhead internal campaigns and cross-functional engagement initiatives to push for Must Wins of the commercial department.
  • Provide Capable Primary Backup to Senior Commercial Leaders: Work closely with senior commercial leaders to prepare and execute elements of commercial strategies.
  • Lead or Support Elements of Components of Commercial Operations: Lead or support commercial operations such as taking stints performing as the secretary of Joint Venture Committee, Product Buyer coordination, and other operational activities as part of company operations and contractual implementation. Lead departmental budget preparation and advocate for commercial initiatives within cost constraints.
  • Act on Commercial and Economics Tasks as Assigned: Commercial and economics tasks for people development and establishing a back-up system within the team is assigned from time to time.

  • Effective relationships with regulatory agencies, joint venture partners and customers who have a diverse set of interests must be maintained.
  • Need to develop and train a credible internal successor within his/her job tenure.

Dimensions:

  • Support commercial operations with high level of sensitive interaction with stakeholders, and high level of sensitive contract integrity and management in a complex business environment with diverse stakeholder interests and ensuring proper management of hydrocarbon sales issues.
  • High mental exertion, with complexity of issues, ambiguity and pace of change.
  • Being part of a team composed of 6 members, it is imperative for the role to develop valuation skills, to enable end-to-end sight of the team's activities.
  • Occasional extended hours, as needed, to meet critical deadlines or manage commercial impact of operational issues
  • Office-based with occasional travel (local and international)

THE INDIVIDUAL

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field
  • At least 7 years experience in negotiation, contracts, project and stakeholder management, with demonstrated experience in managing complex commercial agreements and cross-functional projects
  • At least 4 years experience in a business role, with ability to conduct business strategy, analysis, and some valuation
  • At least 2 years experience in the energy sector and/or Philippine upstream operations, and respective relevant stakeholders
  • Plus Skill in valuation and business development; Relevant graduate studies degree
