As we continue to scale, we're expanding our AR function and looking for a Senior AR Specialist who brings deep hands-on expertise, strong judgment, and true ownership of outcomes not just task completion.



About the Role

This is not a junior or routine billing role.

As a Senior AR Specialist, you will take end-to-end ownership of complex accounts receivable, payer follow-ups, and denial resolution. You'll be trusted to manage your AR independently, prioritize effectively, identify patterns, and flag systemic issues that impact cash flow and operational performance.

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Has deep AR and denial management experience

  • Takes pride in resolving complex issues and improving outcomes, not just working queues



What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Own and manage assigned AR accounts with minimal oversight, ensuring timely and accurate resolution

  • Perform demographic and charge entry with a high degree of accuracy

  • Prepare, submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims through clearinghouses and payer portals

  • Conduct in-depth payer follow-ups to secure payment and resolve outstanding balances

  • Analyze, resolve, and appeal complex claim denials and rejections

  • Correct and resubmit claims as needed, documenting actions clearly and thoroughly

  • Identify recurring denial trends or payer issues and proactively flag them for escalation

  • Maintain clean, accurate AR notes, trackers, and status updates

  • Collaborate with the billing team to reduce Days in AR and improve overall cash flow

  • Support audits, reconciliations, and special billing projects when needed



What You Bring
Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in medical billing, AR follow-up, and denial management

  • Strong understanding of insurance billing workflows and payer guidelines

  • Proven ability to manage AR independently and make sound judgment calls

  • High attention to detail with strong documentation habits

  • Analytical mindset with solid problem-solving skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for AR tracking and reporting

  • Experience with billing systems such as TheraNest, EZClaim, Waystar, or similar platforms

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes

  • Experience working across multiple payer portals and clearinghouses

  • Background in behavioral health or mental healthcare billing

  • Exposure to audits, AR reporting, or denial trend analysis
