The GWAM Strategy & Transformation team plays a critical role in shaping and delivering Manulife's strategic priorities. The team is accountable for developing and refining strategy, supporting execution across the business, identifying gaps or risks to delivery, and tracking progress against GWAM's strategic objectives.
As a Senior Analyst, you will support high-priority strategic and transformation initiatives by providing strong analytical support, project coordination, and clear communication. This role is well-suited for a highly organized, analytically minded individual who is comfortable working with data, synthesizing qualitative information, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver outcomes on time.
Position Responsibilities:
Quantitative & Data Analysis
Independently own data collection, data validation, and analysis
Analyze financial, operational, or performance data to identify trends, issues, and actionable insights
Develop dashboards and visualizations to support decisionmaking and progress tracking.
Provide expert-level analysis and interpretation of complex data, trends, and business issues to enable informed decision-making.
Establish and continuously improve standards, frameworks, and methodologies within the scope of work.
Qualitative Analysis & Process Review
Review and synthesize qualitative information, including process documentation, policies, management readouts, and operating materials
Support process mapping and documentation to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or opportunities for improvement
Summarize key findings clearly and concisely for senior audiences
Executive Presentation & Materials
Develop clear, structured presentations that translate data and analysis into insights
Support the presentation of process maps, project trackers, and reporting materials through slides.
Influence key stakeholders through data-driven insights, presentations, and advisory engagement.
Support leadership in decision-making processes, including scenario analysis, risk assessment, and solution evaluation.
Project Management Support
Support the execution of initiatives by coordinating workstreams, tracking milestones, and supporting daytoday project activities
Work closely with crossfunctional stakeholders to manage timelines, scope, and dependencies
Proactively identify risks, issues, and bottlenecks, and escalate with clear options and recommendations
Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices.
Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and methodologies, integrating them into the function.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, capability building, and institutionalizing expertise.
Prepare regular project updates, status reports, and progress trackers for internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
University degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field
3-5 years of relevant experience in strategy, transformation, project management, or analytical roles
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with demonstrated numerical aptitude and ability to independently analyze data
Basic knowledge of Power BI or similar data visualization tools
Solid PowerPoint skills with the ability to present data and insights in a clear, executiveready format
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against timelines
Ability to synthesize both quantitative and qualitative information into clear takeaways
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfort working in a fastpaced, evolving environment with multiple stakeholders
Sample Deliverables/ Outcomes for North America Strategy
Support the quarterly GWAM Performance Scorecard process. This would include collecting data points, running them through our scorecard model, and preparing a standardized re port with outputs that can be shared with senior leadership (GWLT)
Support quarterly Enterprise Strategy dashboard process. Help collect the relevant business highlights and metrics to demonstrate GWAM's progress across our strategic imperatives
Sample Deliverables/ Outcomes for Asia
Conduct endtoend process discovery and walkthrough sessions to document currentstate operational and support processes. E.g. Bank recon process using tools such as value stream mapping.
Develop highquality project deliverables (process maps, policies, procedures, data analysis, management readouts) and support business owners in implementing agreed improvements.
Act as a junior PM to support endtoend finance and operations transformation projects, covering reporting, data flows, controls, and platform migrations (e.g., EDL, Power BI).
Own minor projects independently for delivery: scope, milestones, risks, stakeholder coordination across Finance, Ops, Tech, and vendors.
Act as a project coordinator between Finance/Ops and Technology, defining requirements, validating data, and supporting UAT and adoption.
Act as business analyst for user acceptance testing related to projects undertaken in Asia.
Produce executiveready outputs (updates, actions, decision papers) to support leadership decisionmaking and change management.
Help prepare first draft of documents such as policy documents and presentations.
Sample Deliverables/ Outcomes for North America Transformation
Analyze expense data, assess variances against financial plan and partner with Finance team to identify and document root causes.
Analyze project updates submitted by the initiative owners and compare against targets to identify variance. Engage with initiative owners to assess root cause. Summarize findings in form of monthly reports/ executive ready presentations
Analyze non-FTE spend data to identify potential opportunities for cost reduction
Conduct spans and layer analysis on workforce data to identify opportunities for streamlining org structure
