JOB OVERVIEW
The Senior Accounting Analyst plays a vital role in supporting financial operations at Barhead's branch office, overseeing the financial records of one of its affiliated entitiesThis position is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and providing analytical insights to support business decisions. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, managing month-end processes, reconciling accounts, and contributing to management reporting activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Invoicing and Receipting
- Maintain and update customer records.
- Prepare and amend invoices and credit notes
- Monitor and record customer payments
- Prepare Aged Receivables and provisions
Supplier Payments and Expenses
- Review supplier invoices into weekly/fortnightly/monthly payment runs, streamlining payment processes wherever possible.
- Review records of supplier payments and office expenses in accounting software, coding to appropriate accounts and ensure applicable taxes are accurately calculated
- Validate tax calculations on all expense entries
- Record and monitor expense accruals
Reconciliations of Bank Accounts
- Reconcile all bank accounts on a daily/ weekly basis.
- Reconcile all bank accounts to the last day of the month each month.
- Request all bank statements from signatory each month
- Manages the cash resources and recommends action plan (disbursements) for such assets. Establishes and maintains relationships with banking-related institutions.
Financial Statements
- Make end-of-month journals as required
- Ensure all books of accounts are accurately maintained
- Prepare monthly management reports and schedule as required by group reporting team.
- Support internal and external audit activities.
Admin and Ad hoc tasks
- Provide administrative support such as mentoring other team members and serving as a backup for other roles when needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Adherence to the organization's Information Security Management System (ISMS) policies and procedures, including responsibilities in safeguarding information, reporting security incidents, and maintaining awareness of data protection and confidentiality obligations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA certification or equivalent is preferred
- Minimum 35 years of accounting experience with direct exposure to Australian financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
