We're looking for a Senior Accountant who brings deep real estate accounting expertise and a sharp eye for financial detail. In this role, you'll be the financial backbone of dynamic business operations - managing everything from AP/AR and payroll to investor funds and property-level reporting. If you're a seasoned numbers professional who thrives in a fast-paced, remote setting and loves bringing order to complexity, this one's for you.
Your Impact
Books in Order & Ledger Guardianship: Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and reports with precision. Maintain balance sheets, including complex settlement statement recordings, to ensure every entry tells an accurate financial story.
Investor & Cash Flow Management: Manage investor funds, including quarterly accruals and distributions, to build trust through total transparency. Monitor daily cash flow, report liquidity concerns to management, and handle AP/AR processing via digital bill-pay setup.
Property Transaction Reporting: Create detailed profit and loss statements immediately following property closings, and ensure transaction-based agent commissions are calculated and distributed on time.
Construction Draw Coordination: Request construction draws when funding milestones are hit and coordinate lender inspections to keep high-value real estate projects moving and funded.
Reconciliation & Intercompany Navigation: Complete rigorous bank and credit card reconciliations to catch discrepancies early, while seamlessly executing intercompany transfers and structural reporting across multiple entities.
Payroll & Vendor Management: Process full-cycle payroll and benefits administration with absolute accuracy. Manage vendor relationships, negotiations, and compliance tracking for Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and W9 forms.
Budget Advisory & Process Improvement: Analyze operational data and budgets to transform raw numbers into actionable strategic insights. Architect new internal processes to drive efficiency and reduce financial operational friction.
Audit Readiness & Year-End Compliance: Perform internal audits to keep the business compliant and clean. Own the execution of year-end 1099s, W2s, and commercial insurance audits.
What You Bring
Real Estate Roots:Extensive, hands-on real estate accounting experience is mandatory. You know the sector's operational frameworks inside and out.
Decade of Expertise:10+ years of progressive accounting experience spanning multi-entity operations, financial reporting, and compliance.
QuickBooks Online Guru:5+ years of daily experience utilizing QuickBooks Online as your primary enterprise financial management tool.
Construction Know-How: Prior construction accounting experience is a strong advantage - you thoroughly understand draws, lien waivers, and project-level financials.
Technical Payroll Competence: Proven experience independently processing corporate payroll and administering employee benefits packages.
Analytical Sharpness: Strong analytical skills paired with a detective mindset to optimize cash flow, manage financial risk under pressure, and navigate complex property closings.
Clear Communication: Superior written and verbal English communication skills, with the corporate presence to comfortably deliver financial reviews and data summaries to executive leadership.
Leadership & Insurance Savvy (Preferred): Prior management experience or a background in tracking corporate insurance compliance and handling external audits.
