We are seeking a Senior Accountant with Australian public practice experience to manage a diverse client portfolio. In this role, you will apply advanced knowledge of Australian business services and taxation, deliver accurate client outcomes, and help mentor junior team members.
Your Impact
- Compliance & Tax Preparation: Prepare Australian income tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, companies, and SMSFs. Complete complex CGT calculations, financial statements, and activity statements (BAS/IAS).
- Taxation Expertise: Apply solid knowledge of GST, capital gains tax, Division 7A, personal services income (PSI), non-commercial losses, and trust law.
- Quality Assurance: Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback to support their development and ensure high-quality files.
- Portfolio & Workflow Management: Manage assignments to meet strict deadlines, maintain an 80% billable time target, and keep write-offs below 2% via diligent daily timesheet tracking.
- Client & Audit Liaison: Maintain professional relationships with Australian clients and resolve technical compliance issues with well-reasoned documentation.
What You Bring
- The Experience:Minimum of 5 years of dedicated experience in Australian public practice accounting is required, with a proven track record of handling complex Australian entity structures.
- Professional Credentials: CPA or CA qualification.
- Technical & Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in Australian accounting and practice management software (such as Xero, MYOB, APS, XPM, or Class).
- Analytical Mindset: A methodical approach to identifying risks, solving complex technical problems, and self-checking your work.
- Communication: Clear, concise written and verbal English communication skills suitable for collaborating with Australian clients and colleagues.
- Leadership & Drive: Experience mentoring junior staff, a proactive approach to work, and the ability to operate independently with high accountability.
