Job Description
Financial Close & Reporting
- Own the preparation, review, and loading of journal entries for month-end close for the assigned area, ensuring accuracy, proper substantiation, and timely completion within the close calendar
- Contribute to the preparation of management accounts and statutory financial statements in compliance with PFRS
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual BIR returns accurately and on time — including VAT, Expanded Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Documentary Stamp Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, and other relevant taxes
- Maintain the tax compliance calendar and ensure no filing deadline is missed — including flagging upcoming obligations to the Finance Manager in advance
- Prepare tax provisions, deferred tax computations, and tax schedules in support of the month-end close and annual financial statements
- Reconcile BIR returns to the general ledger and financial statements on a monthly basis — identifying and resolving variances before they become audit issues
- Support the preparation and organisation of transfer pricing documentation and related-party transaction schedules in coordination with the Senior Tax Manager
- Assist in responding to BIR Letters of Authority, tax assessments, and audit queries — including preparation of supporting schedules, reconciliations, and explanation letters
Complex Transaction Accounting
- Assess the tax implications of new transaction types — including VAT treatment, withholding tax obligations, and DST — and document positions clearly in coordination with the Senior Tax Manager
- Research accounting and tax treatments for new products or business arrangements and document conclusions defensibly
Audit & Regulatory Support
- Serve as a key contributor during annual external audits — preparing PBC schedules, responding to auditor queries, and ensuring workpapers are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Support BIR tax audits and regulatory examinations by preparing required schedules, reconciliations, and documentation in a timely and organised manner
Process Improvement & AI Adoption
- Proactively identify manual, repetitive processes in the close cycle and tax compliance workflow and propose automation or AI-assisted solutions
- Actively use and explore AI tools — including AI-assisted reconciliation, generative AI for report drafting, and automation tools within the ERP — to improve speed and reduce error
- Document process improvements and share learnings with the broader finance team
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance Operations, the Financial Reporting, and Funding teams to ensure financial data and tax positions are accurate, timely, and consistent across all users
- Communicate accounting and tax findings clearly to the Finance Manager, with proposed solutions — not just problems
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Accountancy; CPA board passer strongly preferred
- 3–5 years of experience combining both general ledger / financial reporting and BIR tax compliance — candidates with experience in only one area will not be considered
- Experience in financial services, fintech, banking, lending, or a Big Four firm with financial institution clients is a strong advantage
- Hands-on experience preparing and filing BIR returns independently — VAT, EWT, CIT, and DST as a minimum; experience with BIR audit support is a strong advantage
- Strong working knowledge of PFRS, particularly PFRS 9 and PFRS 15, and their interaction with Philippine tax treatment
- Solid understanding of Philippine tax law — VAT, withholding tax, income tax, DST — and familiarity with BIR issuances and revenue regulations
- Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, dynamic formulas, and data modelling are baseline, not a bonus
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, or equivalent); experience generating tax reports and GL extracts from ERP is preferred
