Job Description

The Senior Accountant, Corporate Finance & Compliance, supports the Finance Manager in finance operations, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and governance activities. The role is responsible for financial accounting, treasury support, compliance reporting, procurement governance, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen the organisation's financial controls and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting Reporting & Operations:

  • Prepare full sets of accounts, account reconciliations, and monthly financial reports.
  • Ensure timely month-end closing, including accounts receivable billings, and maintenance of supporting schedules.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including asset acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and annual verification exercises.
  • Support budget preparation, forecasting, and management reporting processes.
  • Prepare financial analyses and variance reports for management and budget holders.
  • Prepare reports for IPC charity portal submission.

Donations & Fund Management:

  • Manage accounting and reporting for grants, restricted funds, donations, and sponsorships.
  • Prepare grants and financial reports in accordance with funders requirements.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of grant balances and funding records.
  • Ensure reconciliation between financial records and donor management systems.
  • Coordinate resolution of donation-related discrepancies and liaise with internal stakeholders where required.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements, including charitable donation reporting and other statutory submissions.
  • Conduct Anti-Money Laundering (AML) screening and compliance checks for applicable donations.
  • Support grant or fund audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.

Treasury & Receivables Management:

  • Assist in cash flow forecasting and treasury planning activities.
  • Monitor fixed deposit schedules and related treasury documentation.
  • Oversee receivables management, including follow-up of outstanding balances and collection efforts.
  • Support shared cost allocation exercises and related financial analysis.

Compliance, Governance & Risk Management:

  • Support the maintenance and enhancement of financial controls, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct vendor due diligence reviews and compliance assessments for significant procurement exercises.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance policies.
  • Support Audit & Risk Committee administration, including preparation of meeting papers and minutes.
  • Coordinate or support statutory audits and timely closure of audit findings.

Supervision & Stakeholder Support:

  • Partner with budget owners and internal stakeholders to provide timely financial information and advisory support.
  • Prepare cost centre reports, variance analysis, and management reports.
  • Support fundraising and programme teams through financial reporting and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with finance-related initiatives and organisational projects, including new business or operational set-ups.
  • Review the work of finance support staff.

Systems & Process Improvement:

  • Participate in finance transformation and digitalisation initiatives.
  • Support implementation and enhancement of finance and procurement systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Assist in developing and documenting finance procedures and best practices.

Educational Qualification:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent).

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in financial operations, preparing accounts, financial and management reporting, including forecasting and budgeting.
  • Experience in charity, non-profit, healthcare or grant-funded environment.
  • Experience managing donation accounting, IPC compliance and fund reporting.
