Senior Accountant

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Pacific Time, with a 1-hour break

Salary: $1,300 per month

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee and manage full-cycle accounting operations within a dynamic land use consulting environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing comprehensive financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and best practices.

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial planning and analysis, supporting business decisions through data-driven insights, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders. This position requires a proactive professional with strong analytical capabilities, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (BigTime).
  • Prepare accurate profit and loss accounts, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements.
  • Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments.
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Prepare and send out invoices to clients and customers.
  • Draft proposals for potential clients along with addendums as needed to current contracts.
  • Month-end close accounting entries and analysis.
  • Track employee hourly submissions and submit bi-monthly payroll entries.
  • Develop and review financial reports with the business, including monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Identify new ways to collect, analyze, and interpret data, quantifying financial opportunity and risk, and communicating optimal business decisions/actions.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Accounting or Finance; MBA or CPA is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible related financial experience required.
  • Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in advanced analytics and utilizing technology to disseminate insights and data. Proficient in consolidating findings from extensive data analyses into coherent narratives for business partners and leadership.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A motivated self-starter with a high level of personal integrity and business ethics who thrives in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management, communication, organization, and personal effectiveness skills, as well as good computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Project) and web-based project management tools (BigTime, QuickBooks, and ClickUp).
